The Football News Thread 2024/25

I doubt the majority of fans even want to see it either. Most people turn off at HT and come back at 2nd half KO.

Dunno where to put this, here or in the RIP bit, today is the 40th anniversary of the Bradford fire

Another reason to turn the game on a minute from kickoff and then mute it at halftime.

Any interview before the final whistle is a complete waste of time in any circumstances.
The NFL do half time interviews with the head coaches as they run off the field. They are universally the worst, most pointless interviews where nothing is said and nothing is learned. Absolute complete and utter waste of everybody's time. Yet here we are planning to copy them. 🤷‍♂️😡

Imagine the Leicester game in 2020 when Mike Dean/VAR has fucked us yet again. Even Captain Coady is losing his shit walking off the pitch and then some mook sticks a microphone under his nose, Conor can we get your thoughts on that half?

Unless there's an amnesty on players being fined for speaking out of turn during "live interviews" to allow for high emotions all it's going to achieve is an increase in "improper conduct" charges.

So I thought something was off during Charlotte’s visit to Nashville (we lost, unfortunately); turns out La Brigada de Oro (a Nashville supporter’s group) did not attend the match due to ICE operations in the area that night.

Here are the most expensive transfers of all time...
Neymar (Barcelona to Paris St-Germain) - £200m
Kylian Mbappe (Monaco to PSG) - £163m
Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool to Barcelona) - £146m
Joao Felix (Benfica to Atletico Madrid) - £112.9m
Enzo Fernandez (Benfica to Chelsea) - £107m
Antoine Griezmann (Atletico to Barcelona) - £107m
Jack Grealish (Aston Villa to Man City) - £100m
Declan Rice (West Ham to Arsenal) - £100m
Moises Caicedo (Brighton to Chelsea) - £100m
Romelu Lukaku (Inter to Chelsea) - $97.5m

I’d say only one has been a success as an overall signing and he’s yet to win anything. He would likely go for a similar fee if he left tomorrow.
Thoughts?

Depends what you are benchmarking as successful. Neymar for instance was about making a statement, which it did. The money was irrelevant given where it came from. On the pitch it wasn't

Possibly the best strike I’ve ever seen. Incredible.
The guy in the Santa hat looks like he needs a reminder he’s not actually in Heaven after that!

Guessing you mean Declan there?

Mbappe to PSG mostly worked, his move to Madrid seems to have been a bit of a disaster to this point, though.
