The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

Maybe with fewer defensive duties RAN will thrive at City. It also has the whiff of someone who might come back in a couple of years.

That price possibly means we didn't pay Angers 9mill, we instead paid them the 50% of the profit as it'd be cheaper? Depending on how the deal was structured.

If we did pay the 9mill that's just 12million profit on RAN.

Athletic say we paid the lower fee, £8m or so (fookin places reporting in €'s)

Spent a lot of time trying to find reasoning behind the deal yesterday. ..waste of time that was and should have just joined in the angry responses.

I just don't agree. Yes he does sometimes try stuff when under pressure that puts us on the back foot, but I like that, it's why he has the best figures for assists/goals of any defender in the league.
I saw somewhere the other day (can't member where or find it unfortunately) that he also has the best ball recoveries in the league. He's not perfect, no player is but I think he gets unfairly called out for his defending on the whole.
He does not just put us on the back foot but often results in our conceding unnecessary goals.

Regarding of opinions of his time here and the fee, can we please not do the thing of taking his performances at City as exactly what he would have achieved here? We don’t need another Vitinha in the zeitgeist.

Sarabia, RAN and Cunha all gone, that's A LOT of flair gone out of the team, we're going to be very predictable and boring to watch (as it stands, obviously)

People moan when players are boring, pass it sideways or are negative. But here we have RAN being criticised for “putting us on the backfoot and conceding unnecessary goals” because he’s - y’know - creative and likes to try different things.

You just can’t win.

We’ll miss him and the fee is a shocker. Anyone disputing that has chosen an extremely weird hill to die on.

For one thing, I only see three people “slating” him. For another, this idea that he “tries things” is absolutely true and was a boon for us, but he constantly tried them in our own third, and that’s quite simply a bad place to try to get fancy.

Nobody is out here wishing he’d had fewer goal contributions ffs.

it is as bollocks as the fee
Bit rude. Calling something bollocks and leaving it there is so easy.

He did it more than I wish he had, how about that? It’s also not a “narrative” ffs, it’s my opinion based on watching him. And I’ve been saying it for a long while; I didn’t suddenly come to this conclusion when the fee was reported.
