The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

This feels like a pretty good tactic for getting fringe players off the books.

Give them away but a high sell on fee guarantees sone sort of return without having all the hassle of pushing them out and accepting low fees.
Yeah seems a good deal for all concerned.

Basically what a lot of lower league clubs are doing these days and suits the selling clubs as you say

I think we need a promotional strap line to promote the club and he city to potential new players? "COME TO WOLVERHAMPTION, IT'S NICER THAN WALSALL'? We could also add that for every 306 goals you score for us, you get a stand named after you as a bit of incentive.

No offence meant to anyone from Walsall, I love the arbaritum arbaritim arbaer arborea the park with all them trees. It's a fine town.

How else do you break the press? Yes you can pass past it but we haven’t been particularly good at that. RAN beating a player and then running well into the opposition half has been one of our major threats under VP and responsible for creating far more than it has caused defensive problems. Inevitably he loses the ball sometimes and that’s why we have an extra central defender to help deal with it. If he was doing it as a fullback in a back four it would be more of an issue and it will be interesting to see how he plays at City but my betting is that he won’t need to be taking players on in his own third as City can pass their way out of a press better than anyone.
No doubt in my mind that he has every chance to thrive there. I agree that he won’t be under pressure in the defensive third nearly as often in blue.

All I can say on my disagreement with the rest is that Rayan was the most dispossessed defender in the Prem last season. But equally I’m not delusional; people have long since felt the way they’ll feel about him.

I don't understand comments like this.

If you don't want to talk about a topic, that's fine. Obviously.

But telling other people not to, is weird.

Maybe you’re right.

It’s just a bit like sitting in a pub with a bloke that constantly wants to talk about his ex-girlfriend.

Even though he has plenty of other options to talk about.

Don’t let me catch you mentioning Bully then, not here anymore innit

Thats such transparent gaslighting bullshit.

We ain't spending much then.
Without wanting to sound like I’m defending the club, the media team did so the same thing with Yerson last year when he was at Villarreal and similar with Lonwijk at Plymouth, so I’d suggest this is driven by the media team than anything else nefarious.
