The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

He's turned out not to be what we needed at the time, true, but people talked as if they were writing him off entirely, and that's completely unfair to him as a player after six months in new league etc etc etc.

If there's any negativity it should be solely at Hobbs, not Nasser, at least not at this early stage of his time here.

It's entirely your prerogative if you want to white knight him, Al.

You can't claim it's the most fair and reasonable position though, it clearly isn't, as DW has thoroughly laid out.

And not a single person has 'written him off entirely' on here; we don't have enough info to make that call as he's been sat on his arse for most of 2025.

It's fair to say he doesn't currently look like he's what we need though, for whatever reason. We'll see what the summer brings and I'm sure Vitor will make a call one way or another

Djiga is only 18 months younger than Mosquera, we signed Yerson four years ago. I know what you're saying but he isn't particularly one for development.
He is probably a player we had on our list for this summer (although unlikely he would now be on it)...so for the future, talking more about using the months to help settle into the country/club before the new season.
Didn't cover what we actually wanted/needed at the time though as the Danso and to a lesser extent, Coady moves showed.

As fans we're often quick to write players off, and maybe 70% of the time it's proven to be the correct choice. But there are plenty of instances where a player who's been written off proves the doubters wrong. The signs aren't great for Djiga, his only brief appearances for Wolves were less than stellar, but he's young, especially as CHs can improve greatly with experience. We shall see.

Joleon Lescott had played about 170 games for Wolves when he was Djiga's age and that was with an entire season out too.

I get that but every player develops at a different rate and I wouldn't class Djiga's exposure to first team football as that far ahead of Yerson's season at Colombian Primera A. I know he played in the Champions League but Serbia is a proper footballing backwater.

I'm going to stick my neck out on Djiga and say that he'll hardly ever feature in the Premier League for Wolves and spend a season or so out on loan before being punted on.

Hardly sticking your neck out, I'd say that's probably the most likely scenario.

He's played in the Swiss top flight (with games in Europe for Basel) and Ligue 2 in France too.

You're not convincing me 🤣

I think he definitely needs another season of consistent football at a reasonable level before we even consider him as an option in the Premier League.

Agba is even more confusing with his background.

Didn't even play pro football until he was 22 (in Tunisia) and was on literally no-one's radar six months ago but how exactly, the guy is magic!

Yeah I have no idea how we pulled off that one. Such a brilliant player.

TBF I think Ligue 1 is probably the perfect place for Djiga next season. He's Burkinabe so I assume he speaks French, it's a step up from where he's played before and it's a league where the average player's physicality is similar to in the Premier League. It's easy to defend in Serbia when you're 6"4 and quick, you need to be much better in a top 5 league where physicality doesn't count for quite as much.

He played for Reims in Ligue 2.

£10m is a lot though for a player you don't expect to contribute for 18 months minimum. Like Yerson was a quarter of that.

I thought Yerson was £5M?

Yeah he's been a rubbish signing and nothing like what we needed at that time. I'm not hopeful really, like I said earlier I think the most likely scenario is that he goes on loan a few times and then sold for a loss.

Yerson has also not contributed after 4 years.
But at £2.5m you care less, and he was two years younger than Djiga is now when we signed him, and injuries have wrecked 2 of his 4 seasons.

Hi Mr Apple, meet Mr Orange.
