The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

Does the timing of the "option to buy" have any bearing on financial regulations - for example, if any payment of the option is rolled over to next year?

Cash flow is the only benefit that I can see from having a high loan fee and low appearances figure to trigger the option. The 7m loan fee is more than 30m amortised over a 5 year deal so no PSR benefit in doing it that way.

I would think the loan fee comes out of this year, and the rest gets amortised over the remainder of his contract. I think we've front loaded it

It would benefit subsequent years if we reduced how much we'd have to amortise in those years. I.e. spend bigger in the years we receive money from sales

AC Milan have apparently entered the race to sign Silva.
We can’t possibly balls up a sale of him by trying to be too greedy in terms of a fee can we?

Definitely. He could definitely balls it up himself by kicking up a fuss if he wants to move to Milan but Dortmund are offering more.

I must admit I feel a tad concerned that clubs bigger and better than us seem to be interested in him.

I mean, what are you going to do? Even if he's suddenly developed into an acceptable option he doesn't want to be here and hasn't deserved another chance (how many chances would it be now? I was going to write second before I corrected myself).

I'm quite excited (from a purely comedic perspective) to see who we're going to sign to replace Larsen. Of course, Fab hasn't gone anywhere yet...
