The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

I think if JSL and Marshall are going to be fixtures then you want wingbacks who can consistently cross the ball well, and neither RAN or Semedo are great at that, especially from deeper areas
I'd add Andre and J Gomes to that discussion too. You aren't going to get more than 5 or 6 league goals from those 2, so the creativity needs to come from our width. RANs crossing doesn't concern me as he creates chances by being direct and running at his man, Semedo is the one we need to move on from imo if the personnel and formation stays the same. I'd rather Rodrigo than Bueno unless he has improved a lot, that 'he's played in the CL line' is doing a lot of heavy lifting for me

That's not how it was meant, because as I say you are correct as it's likely he will move on because he is looking for those things.

What I'm saying is we are just accepting of that because being a feeder club is what we've come to expect. With a good end to a season, a new manager and a generally positive atmosphere we could be poised to kick on back to the next level, we could try to sell him the vision that we are on the verge of something, we can't though because he and we know that's not the ambition.
We may well be agreeing more than we're disagreeing tbh mate.
The club (or more Vitor) may well have tried selling him the vision? Perhaps less so the money hoarders. However, RAN was sold a vision 5 years ago, and may take what he was sold into account in making his decision.

I also agree with @Wilf Wolf in RAN might be wanting to step into CL directly.

It'll be interesting to see what his options are. In this country of the 8 obvious upgrades I'd rule Arsenal and Newcastle out with them having Lewis-Skelly and Hall. O'Reilly is coming through at City, Udogie seems entrenched at Spurs, Utd have just signed Dorgu and Chelsea aren't moving on from Cucurella.

That leaves Liverpool, but they are supposedly after Kerkez and Villa. He's better than Digne, but they spent a fortune on Maatsen last Summer. So where will he go?

United could be an option if they qualify

Spent £30m on Dorgu in Jan though. Liverpool if they can't get Kerkez over the line and City if they want to move Gvardiol to centre half and think it's a bit early for O'Reilly would be my guess if he stays here. Neither are givens though

I get why the feeder club vibe doesn’t sit well, but there are probably less than a dozen clubs in the entire world that aren’t stepping stones.

That one has got nothing to do with Fosun, IMV. It’s the modern game.

I think he could give the creativity on Liverpools left hand side that they’ll be missing on the right with TAA leaving. Thats not to say that he is in that category of player though. It’ll depend on what Liverpool are looking for with their next purchase.
Can’t comment on Kerkez v RAN as a debate as I’ve not seen enough of him.

A dozen? Real Madrid is about it. They took Figo from Barca who are probably next in line. United lost Ronaldo to Madrid but don’t lose many domestically.

Levels innit. Regardless, we ain’t them.

Fair play to RAN for signing the contract if he wants to go.

He could have feasibly ran (lol) his contract down to make moving easier (and more lucrative) for him

He hasn't. He has a year left, plus we have a 1 year option, so this is the Summer one way or another

RAN to Liverpool and we can do a player swap and get this lad in exchange

You love a conspiracy. :)
In fairness, if you want to see how successful the expectation management of Cunha’s departure is going just listen to the Wolves Fancast. They hate him now, makes us worse as a team. Good riddance. You don’t need to be a genius to work a large % of our fanbase.
