The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

Problem is I still don't think we have that second player and we don't seem to be linked to centre halves. It's definitely not Doherty or Bueno. Not writing Djiga off but he's been poor again so far tonight so you certainly aren't building a new formation around him. Mosquera maybe, but coming off a serious injury and I thought he was up and down earlier in the season whilst fully acknowledging the moron factor. Toti, too loose on the ball, switches off too often and will be punished more when more central. Also it complicates the situation at LB.
Agree with that. Hopes pinned on Mosquera but you still need another CB. Personally I don’t think it’s good enough to say we’re completely fine with our centre backs if the reality is you can only trust one in the most conventional system played in the league. We should move a couple we have on and get a quality player in. Clearly we won’t though. and it’s nodded through by fans conditioned to think Doc is an acceptable option for Wolves in 25/26.

Yeah I was responding to "he was hardly a hidden gem."

It's not impossible, I just said it's harder than a lot of people think it's going to be. I always watch the wing backs when they receive the ball and both RAN and Semedo's touch and work in tight spaces is top tier and gets us out of some shit situations.
He was playing at a top Belgian club and in Europe. He wasn’t remotely hidden, same as Agbadou wasn’t.

If he wasn't hidden then bigger clubs would have snapped him up at such a low price point.
Well none of them play WBs which was probably a massive factor. Teams don’t often sign “older” players either and they certainly don’t normally makes signings from Belgium. They wait for teams like us the sign them and the pay 5x the price afterwards.

Clubs didn’t want to sign him for some reason. They were clearly wrong not to. That can be applied to thousands of transfers. But he was on show, banging them in from RB in Belgium, not some young kid playing for Estoril or something.

The reason they don't buy direct from Belgium is because it's a huge risk with the step up in that level. Id never heard of Munoz before Palace signed him because it's not a well covered league and ultimately I think we just disagree on what the term hidden gem pertains to.

Well, tonight showed we definitely can't be relying on two young lads in Rodrigo and Lima at RWB next season, so that is a position we definitely need to buy someone.

Also, as mentioned in the verdict thread you can't go with just Andre and Joao Gomes as the main two in there all season. We need a half decent backup for that position. We have been linked with players there though.

We need another two attackers who can ideally play out wide or centrally and chip in with goals now that Cunha is going. Sarabia, Guedes and Forbs need to be binned ideally if we can find someone to take them.

That's at least 4 players that we need. Let's hope the recruitment team are up to the job and don't just buy youngsters.

Exactly. A risk they might not step up, not they’re are hidden and no one knows they’re there 😉

Assuming just Cunha and Semedo leave from out best 11 we need a keeper (I'd replace Sa, but at least someone to challenge him) Johnstone is off - I think it'll be a loan though, Bentley OK for 3rd choice.

RWB, can't trust Rodrigo after tonight.

Central mid isn't a priority, but I agree we need someone to fill a squad place, a tricky one to recruit. I think Munetsi is your 4th choice in there. Disappointed to not see Traore today given the overall team selection. May as well sell him. We know Doyle is off.

Inside forwards/10s. We need 2, to start and Bellgarde as a bench option

Number 9 to cover/challenge JSL or an extra 10 if they can cover post positions.

So without being particularly greedy that's 6 players.

All that and we definitely need more than 2 inside forward/10s as I can't see any of Cunha, Sarabia, Guedes or Hwang being at the club.

I don’t even think Rodrigo Gomes is a “wing back” not at this level and not in a bottom third team. He doesn’t look like he had a defensive bone in his body and he’s weak as piss. €15m is another sizeable investment though so we need him to start stepping up somewhere on the pitch

It's funny, only a couple of weeks ago he was the new Cafu/Roberto Carlos

(I mean generally, not necessarily you)

Was he? Or was he someone that people said they'd like to see play before the end of the season to see if he's going to be good enough to replace Semedo and/or RAN

Forbs isn't ours, right?
