The media tend to make their minds up pretty early on players & it's extremely rare for that to change. Wasn't Sterling abused by the media for buying his mum a house?

It's quite obvious that the above differs from, lets say - the abuse someone like Joey Barton gets. Because Joey Barton brings it on himself, where as the media chose to target Sterling.
