League goals are your currency when you're criticising players like Doherty or Guedes, but did Bull score 250 goals for Wolves or 306?

Do Jota and Raul's euro goals not count either?

I just think it's disingenuous.

It just makes logical sense when you're assessing a player's record. Judge them against the teams they have to play week in, week out, who should be of a similar level. Cup goals can massively skew it because they can come against massively weaker opposition or in zero stakes games.

Guedes has a dismal record and is a terrible player, I don't know why this is an argument.

And they can be against in a hugely stronger opposition in a huge stakes game, like a semi final at Wembley, or a winner in an FA cup quarter final.

How anyone can have watched him regularly and think he has anything to offer us is beyond me.

Arguing whether or not to include cup goals in his stats to get him above one season where he’s scored more than 5 league goals reads like people defending him to me. Perhaps I’m wrong and it’s just about whether he’s just shit or totally and utterly shit.

As I've said i think it's disingenuous, we included Jota and Raul's goals in the cups against Crusaders and Man U alike we all know Bull scored 306 goals for Wolves, not one person has ever said he scored 250.

But when it's a player that isn't liked (and I dont rate him either) then cup goals aren't included. It's bollocks.

DW wasn’t manipulating his record, just choosing a stat that supports his argument. Surely you can see that only exceeding 5 league goals once at 28 years old is awful. He then outlined exactly why cup goals can be very misleading. Hardly disingenuous.

You regularly hear league and total goals when discussing a player’s record. You can use both.

Presumably you view all CR7s goals in Saudi as equivalent to the ones he scored in the PL and La Liga as he might be playing against a competent defender now and then?

Toti-Agbadou-Mosquera looks a decent mix to me, but we only have Doherty and Bueno behind that, and I don't want either starting 10+ league games next season.
