The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

Toti-Agbadou-Mosquera looks a decent mix to me, but we only have Doherty and Bueno behind that, and I don't want either starting 10+ league games next season.
Personally I’d like two CBs who could make up a back four. Not a subscriber to the superstition that only in WV1 is it impossible to play a perfectly standard formation. Mosquera might, but might isn’t good enough.

I'm fine with Doherty, he looks comfortable at RCB.

Santi Bueno is absolutely shite. Hopefully we can sign someone to be a standout starter at LCB and push Bueno down to 6th choice.

Doc looks ok at CB but I don't want him as our first choice, he'll never manage all season, he's about 102 ffs.
Were all putting a lot of hope in Mosquera.

Until we make some signings we've got a lot of hope in many players, gotta have a flurry of influxes soon or we'll be including the likes of H Bueno and F Lopez in that 'gotta hit the ground running' list, as well as hoping J Gomes and Andre stay injury free etc

I've got no worries about Mosquera in terms of his quality or suitability to play PL football personally. His fitness is another issue but Doherty is good enough in that position that we should be able to manage his minutes effectively throughout the season.

We've already got way too much to do this summer without solving lesser issues like Doc as RCB backup and Sa as no.1 IMO
As I said I'm fine with Doc as back up but Mosquera is an unknown quantity, looked decent at the start of last season but that was a very small sample. Players coming back from an almost season long injury always gives me anxiety.

I don't see Sá as being a lesser issue personally, he absolutely cannot play the way Vítor wants him to. It's a really important position to upgrade IMO.

CB is pretty important, harsh as it sounds are we really backing mosquera to play 30+ games? Feels like a big risk to me and I don't want to be relying on either Doc or Bueno

That's what happens when you accumulate mediocre or crowbarred players? Look at our forward options atm!

Djiga obviously is not the answer right now, we can't write Yerson off as well, injury return or not, Doc is getting on and although he did well it was still a bit of a punt (that worked fortunately in that context), S Bueno is shit...we may go to the market again but even with those issues we have bigger ones in other key areas

You could be right if Vitor thinks the same way. Depends on what the market is like and what kind of churn we can expect, I just meant it's not a glaring issue like we have with our wide forwards or wing backs

It doesn't need loads, just a non shit version of Dawson. Someone like Dunk at Brighton who must be 32/33 would be really handy for a few seasons

Toti, Agba and Mosquera with Doc and Bueno as back ups is good enough for me, perhaps a LCB back up, but that's a lot of CBs.
It’s a lot for sure, but it’s not good enough. I think VP will want to be able to play a four, and I think he’ll go out to sign a player to give him a chance.

I mean, I obviously agree that there are some whacking big other issues to fix first. I’m crazily assuming these are taken as read.

We have no forwards good enough behind JSL and maybe Fer Lopez. Who else is going to play up top and score our goals? That seems a far more pressing need, followed by WBs, a back-up CM and GK. Not sure we need to add CB as a priority, more an 'in an ideal world' scenario.

Unfortunately , in spite of whatever faith we have in Vitor, faith in our recruitment process is still understandably shaky, so it's hard to predict what the hell the squad will look like in six weeks
I’m still worried as others are about who will still be in it, perhaps before I’m worrying about who’s added to it.
