The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

New number 10 and two WBs is absolutely the bare minimum. Get those wrong, or almost unthinkably don’t bother, and we’ll be in a world of pain. Cover for GK, CB and CM pretty essential too. The latter can wait until the end of the window if absolutely necessary but we need the players that are going to start sooner than later.

I'm worried who our manager will be at the start of the season... 👖💦

Doc looks ok at CB but I don't want him as our first choice, he'll never manage all season, he's about 102 ffs.
Were all putting a lot of hope in Mosquera.
Doc is a few months older now than Dawson was when we signed him, and Doc is far more mobile and will be expected to play less games than Dawson did when we signed him.

Unfortunately , in spite of whatever faith we have in Vitor, faith in our recruitment process is still understandably shaky, so it's hard to predict what the hell the squad will look like in six weeks
And this is it. We can have a wishlist, and it's glaringly obvious what we need to do.

But i have no faith whatsoever that we will fill the gaps adequately, the dithering around Semedo emphasises that in my view.

Nah, Daws was in as a 100% starter - we knew he'd do well to last in that status to the end of his contract (he didn't) but he was there to be basically the lead CH.

Doherty and mobile do not go together. He's found a little bit of a niche - a surprise to all of us I'm sure - but he couldn't deal with players running at him one on one 12 years ago, he certainly can't now.

We have no forwards good enough behind JSL and maybe Fer Lopez. Who else is going to play up top and score our goals? That seems a far more pressing need, followed by WBs, a back-up CM and GK. Not sure we need to add CB as a priority, more an 'in an ideal world' scenario.

Are we thinking Vitor sees Rodrigo as a wide forward or a wing back? Or wherever needed? Presumably not a starter in either position anyway

Also the players must be back in the next week or so?

So we need to get that decision from Semedo. Yes or no. Because if he's staying then we don't desperately need a RB/RWB, if he isn't then we absolutely do.

Dawson’s injury really sped that up unfortunately. Think we’d have squeezed it out of him til this summer. Shame how it ended too

But my comment was in response to Doc not being able to play games next season due to age, it's only 3 months later than when he was playing every week - an argument we'd have both made in favour of Moutinho back when it was relevant.

It is really difficult for you to argue that Doc isn't a lot more mobile now than Dawson was then?

I don't think there's a massive difference there, Daws in 2023 was more Jody Craddock than Lawrie Madden.

Matt Doherty is not very good, I'm sorry but he isn't.

Few players can, and Dawson certainly couldn't. It's only an issue if he gets isolated, which didnt happen often (Forest one occassion)

Well he isn't, is he.

You're actively arguing he should be one of our starting CHs in the Premier League in 2025/26 which is not a sensible state of affairs.

Urgh. Logged in and saw this had skipped on 4 pages and genuinely thought there might have been a player link.

We need to sign some fucking players!

I logged in today, bearing in mind it's a sunday, and expected no such thing.
