If Vitor decides it is important we will have a captain on day 1. If Nelson signs, it will be him. If he doesn't, it will be whomever Vitor picks from the squad. Unless we suddenly sign Virgil Van Dijk (yeah, right) it is extremely unlikely to be a new signing. So I don't really see the issue.

Ive been told that captaincy is not important, that I'm shitting myself and that we need bodies, im talking about a body, an important one.

I regularly feel I get misrepresented on here, only yesterday being told I wanted Doc to be a starter- despite it being in black and white that I didn't.

Also being told I was defending Guedes, so i had to clarify that.

Today im told it's the most crucial thing to me and that im shitting myself.

Then I've got you from nowhere having a dig that i dont understand what it means.

What's your problem?

Perhaps all those that have a problem with me should post exactly what it is?

Hobbs was an arse in letting the situation fester like this. But we know he was an arse in many many ways.

Regarding Nelson as a body, yes, that is an issue as we would like to know whether we need to replace him. But less so about the armband, more about fielding a functional defence.

But this is not a new thing. We spent several summers wondering if we needed to replace Ince while he strung us along and played a bit of golf.

Nico González is apparently already on the way out at City now that Rodri is back. He's a Gestifute client but the fee City paid for him in January was ridiculously inflated. He's being linked with Saudi but if that doesn't work out they'll struggle to find anyone willing to give them anywhere near what they paid. Might be available for a cheeky loan...

I don't think you are shitting yourself about it. The identity of said captain if Nelson doesn't sign is an interesting point to ponder.

I just don't think it is something that we can get any information about just now and it will become clear when the players return and play a pre-season game or two.

I think it will happen naturally as the squad evolves over the summer. My issue is that evolution needs to start happening as we have sold two big starting players and have no certainty on a third. The club need to concentrate on incomings, and also on finding buyers for players like Guedes and Fabio the Wonderkid.

Vitor will pick a captain when he feels he needs to.

With regard to offering Semedo a new deal earlier...back in Jan/Feb relegation was still a very real possibility. You wouldn't be firing out expensive multi-year offers in that situation.
