The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

He'll either end up staying because we're too incompetent to sign another forward to compete/back up JSL OR, we'll send him out on loan anyway, but not sign another forward to compete/back up JSL because we're incompetent. That's my guess.

Classic reporting from Little Liam there, but I suppose he's got to justify the expense of being sent over to Portugal with Judah somehow.

I think a loan is the right idea to see if Sasa's body can stand up to professional football anymore; either way our forward line plans shouldn't really involve him at this stage anyway IMO

Or more likely we want to sign a forward but are keeping him as the contingency against that going south, and will let him go on loan as and when that is sorted.

Not everything has to be wrapped in incompetence.

I'm struggling to think of what club would take Sasa on loan , given his injury problems . It's a huge risk and would have to involve us paying a fair chunk of his wages I would think .
It's not as if he once was a prolific striker and some Manager out there wants to re create that .

A few clubs in Germany apparently.

It can be low risk for them. Probably be a clause that if he seriously breaks again he will return to us and the deal cancelled.

Austria maybe. He said in an interview that the Premier League was a bad league to try to recover from an injury in because of the intensity, I'd imagine the Bundesliga would be similar. I don't think Salzburg would want him as they're more about developing young talent but LASK, Sturm Graz and the Vienna clubs would jump at the chance to have him for a season.

Swap deal for the Young boys full back we were linked with?

Short memories.

Theres a precedent for what Jinky is saying though, when we let Sasa and Silva go in January 2024 window and didn't sign anyone and ended up playing L1 level toddlers up front for the rest of the season, fucking our chance at Wembley.

He's 28 though? Not much benefit to Wolves on him going on loan other getting him off the wage bill.

Would say the situation is different now though.
At that point Sasa was fit and would have been of use, even though GO had no clue how to use him. No excuse for what we did, shocking from Hobbs really.

Now, you are probably better to use a kid rather than Sasa.

Sasa staying or going now will, for me, not be dependent on us replacing him but just finding him a club and trying to get an agreement that is acceptable for all involved.

All it will be. We could offer to cancel his contract of course but doubt he will accept that right now.
He needs to prove to clubs he has a degree of fitness so a loan deal, dont break and a permanent deal can be found.
He breaks again, retirement awaits him.

When Shi is involved, unfortunately it tends to be.

Hopefully with the new structure in place we'll see less incompetence, although Shi of course gets the final sign off on everything still so who knows.

'no one at the club expects the 31-year-old to return'

Madeley on Semedo. Not surprising but the first time anyone with club connections (however tenuous) has said it out loud.
