The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

Anyone know a decent website where I can see the business so far conducted by ‘the other 14’ this summer?

Piss enough people off and it will happen. Vítor has positioned himself as the “best mate” type manager - he goes down the pub for a beer and mingles with the fans after a win, ffs. I don’t know any other manager that does that? He’s put himself in a really strong position to get the fans on side - and if Fosun fuck him around to the point he walks, or even gets close to walking, I would not put it past those folks that hang around in the local Spoons after a match to catch a glimpse of Vítor, heading to the outside of the BW stand post match to voice their opinions/concerns.

The sad thing is, “the penny has dropped” just doesn’t seem like something remotely possible with Jeff Shi. The prick.
 
Also, I have to tip my hat in admiration to those of you sat calmly waiting for the end of the transfer window before passing judgement.

We need to replace Cunha, Ait-Nouri, Semedo & Sarabia (Vítor’s first choice off the bench) just to stand still. Let alone all the additional work required.

As it stands, we’ve replaced none of them. The season starts in 4 weeks.

Can't speak for anyone else but I can no longer get angry or fume about bollocks I can't control.

Will discuss etc but end of the day the nature of modern football and how it has gone means getting annoyed that we haven't sprayed multi millions to obtain a player and then pay them an obscene amount is just a bit pointless for me.

Or a less twatty answer...

I will always go with as long as they get the right players in they can use all the time in the window. Would like 3 or 4 in by now but rarely works like that unless you are targeting players below what you need.

I don't know about sitting calmly untill the end of the window. We've got Arias and I fully expect another 2 or 3 over the next 2 weeks or so. Then it will be around replacing players we lose after that (Guedes? Hwang? Sá?).

Ideally you would've had that business done before training started but I don't think that was ever feasible once we changed the recruitment structure at the start of the window.

If we're still in this position by the time the City game rolls around I'll be furious, if I'm sat in the pub before Everton at home still worried about recruitment I'll be apoplectic.

Also, we clearly have replaced some of those players who have left. We've signed 2 first team players (López & Arias), you can't just pretend that we haven't.
 
Lopez is your Sarabia replacement, Arias should start as did Cunha. You might not like it, but they are the replacements.

Agree with the majority of your post, mate. But on the point above - we haven't confirmed Arias yet (so still time for Jeff & Co to fuck that one up!) but it almost looks done and he will be the Cunha replacement, as you say. We've been told to go easy on Fer, and to not put too much pressure on him initially - so he might well end up being the Sarabia replacement, and that looks to be the case.

That said, the level of incoming business at this stage of the window when most of us agreed we needed a rebuild this summer has been laughable - regardless of which side of the fence you sit on.

Arias is clearly done though and López will be an excellent signing IMO, even if he does have a settling in period. 2 signings which have caused the fans of their previous clubs to have meltdowns.

I'm very pleased with the business we have done personally and if the rest of our business is of a similar quality we'll be fine. I'd have liked to have had it all done earlier obviously but I certainly don't think it's been laughable.

Not opposed to Vítor giving them a bit of a boost to hurry things up. Hopefully it's just a speed issue as every manager wants all of his players in before training starts and not an issue with investment.
 
This summer we’ve allowed the hiring of Vitor approved employees to aid in the coaching/recruitment departments. If Shi is really dumb enough to sell the family silver and replace them with tat or not at all knowing that the coach and his staff will need paying off before the clocks go back then he’ll be out if the door too.
Whilst I know that we’ve been in similar(ish) positions in previous seasons it feels different this time. Loppers had thrown his dummy out before the previous season had finished so was looking for a way out whilst GON was only in his place due to the misguided faith of Hobbs.
Feel free to use this as a stick to beat me with if it goes pear shaped.
