The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

The mood on the forum is pretty much a fair reflection of how miserable the club is.
I cannot emphasise how angry I am at Jeff and Fosun for wilfully neglected what was the best side in over 40 years to turning it into one of the worse squads we’ve had in the PL era.

They've been doing it since before Nuno left, it was probably one of the main reasons he got fed up.

Given the club hadn't been sold in the mean time, or Jeff replaced then all this circle the drain bullshit and bizarre transfer strategies seems to be the point of Wolves under Fosun.

Fosun as an entity don't understand football, they can read a league table and that's about it. They can grasp the point that Premier League = good and Championship = bad in terms of the value of their asset. No more. This is why they happily kept Lage in place because we finished 10th. We all knew that he was an appalling manager and a complete cunt, and this was heading one way.

What would really help them out is having better than Jeff Shi to run the club day-to-day. Because he's just an internal Fosun relic from 9 years ago and he hasn't learned anything since, in fact his ego has just continued to grow and increasingly run rampant.

But because they can only read a league table, and they'll also think Jeff can "save seasons" by making a mid-season managerial change which pulls us out of the mire (I say one was us throwing money at it and one he got lucky), nothing will change until we get relegated.

Which will happen eventually.

You aren't going to see any sudden change any time soon. If they understood anything about football they'd see that they'd fallen onto a good manager out of nowhere, we were losing tons of weight off the wage bill (some of those being bloody good players, of course) and this was the time for a major restructure and to get the squad into a position where we can compete with such giants of European football as er, Brighton, Fulham and Crystal Palace.

But they haven't, and God knows where we'll be at Christmas. This time it might be too late.

This is the thing, though... how has he learned nothing? And how, if anything, has he got progressively worse?

I dare say if I was parachuted into a completely alien industry I'd still manage to pick up something from pure exposure. Like, I don't have a degree in chemistry, but I'd still rate my chances of building a Walter White-esque meth empire once I'd spent a decade benefitting from a cushy pharmaceutical company sinecure.

If you look at Shi's calls since he arrived, what has he actually got right? Outside of smashing the "please save us Jorge Mendes" button a few times, he's mostly spent the last decade centralising all power and decision-making at the club into his hands, and the result has been a steady decline in the quality of the decisions being made.

Liam just tweeted that we are closing in on the Uche deal

Well, closing in, negotiations continuing and work to do on personal terms but hope of getting it over the line

This lad and Josh Brownhill on a free and we’re done and set til January.

He's actually worse at PR and expectation management than fans' favourite Jez Moxey, and again as much as Jez Moxey would happily listen to an audiobook of Jez Moxey detailing how to run a football club every night before bedtime, he was much more willing to front up when things were going wrong (even if you disagreed with him, which I did, frequently). And he didn't absolute batter fans in the pocket on ticket prices either. And our transfer business (incoming and outgoing) was nowhere near as poor, in relative terms.

To think that you might look at that human embodiment of mediocrity and think we're now worse off, despite being in our 8th straight year as a solvent, outwardly stable Premier League club.

I respectfully disagree ,the hatred for Moxey was for putting season tickets up to about £538 for new season ticket holders.

At the time, not that many bothered with season tickets as you could just pay to go weekly home or away, which is what many of us Whitmore Reans lads did. So at a stroke he priced many fans out whilst being paid the 6th highest CEO wage in the premier league. It became a closed shop almost.

Will always hate Moxey with his patronising programme notes such as its safe to stand in moments of excitement, and for giving Albion the South Bank. I know many say he had no choice, but did Arsenal have any choice when ordered to give Spurs the % allocation. Moxey was terrible for us with his wage correlation that became bottom 3 and yes, we were relegated. The fact he has had no jobs since Narwich demonstrates that he has been found out as nothing more than a financial accountant.
