No option to buy
See that makes sense. Regular football, trains with their first team, lives somewhere where he can speak his own language.
No option to buy
Good post.At the start of the window I think most of us would have been happy with 6 new signings - including 5 full internationals and a Spanish 21 year old with a great future. Selling Fab and Guedes should have been the icing on the cake.
We have replaced RAN, Cunha, Sarabia, and Semedo, plus have a second striker and a commanding central defender who can also play defensive midfield.
So in that respect the window has been a success, and should be 8/10 or even 9/10, but right now it obviously isn't.
Neither wing back seems any better than 'meh' (being generous), Arias seems lost, Lopez has only managed a few minutes, and the other two haven't played yet.
The new signings are not to blame for overall fitness issues, Agbadou and Andre not playing well, VP maybe not being as good as we hoped, for us losing our first three games, or for all 3 promoted teams having a decent start.
Feasibly it could still prove to be a decent transfer window - if Tolu and Krejci hit the ground running and the others blend in better. But very few expect all that to happen and I am not about to argue. I don't expect much from Tolu (a marginal upgrade on Munetsi), Arias probably needs a break after playing for 12 months, and there is a good chance that one or both wing back will never be prem level. Just as important as who we bought is who we didn't buy - central midfield being the obvious problem.
So, could be 8/10, could be 4/10, time will tell.
Yep. Damming inditement. In isolation you could conclude that the time taken to conclude that position knocked on to bungled recruitment behind. The CM situation though suggests such screw ups are entirely of our own making.Canary in the coal mine was Semedo choosing to turn down a continued captaincy role and what would have been a lucrative 4 year contract he wouldn't get elsewhere to only end up on a 2 year contract in Turkey.
Uche, Pubil, Sanchez are just the ones we've heard about this transfer window.
Why do you expect that? The CM situation is indefensible. Whether we're 20th or 10th on Jan 1st I expect that position to be sorted ASAP.
We will be adrift and recall Doyle due to his lack of minutes at BirminghamWhy do you expect that?
I absolutely don't expect that at all.
How close were we to actually signing a midfielder? We had months.
There are just so many fucking stupid things!Should have just kept Traore and let him go on deadline day if they weren't sure.
That's true. Of our own making though obviously.Aren't we hamstrung though with Traore (and others) in that there isn't a place for them in the squad due to the numbers of non homegrown players?
Or something like that...
We could have sent someone else out - Sasa being the obvious example.Aren't we hamstrung though with Traore (and others) in that there isn't a place for them in the squad due to the numbers of non homegrown players?
Or something like that...
No. That's why he has to go out.Is there even a place for Sasa now Tolu has come in?
No. That's why he has to go out.
Would rather we loaned out a non HG CB or WB and kept Sasa personally. As we have 6 of each!!
I’d have thought loaning out a CB is more sensible too. Might have been made trickier by them all reaching a similar level of performance - not in the desired way.Only the 5 wing backs now
