I wonder how it would have gone for the rioters if they'd have stormed the Capitol to protest Trump's election win and tried to seize power back from him?

He'd probably have sent them all to Guantanamo.

In slightly more positive news, a federal judge has struck down the order to end Birthright Citizenship.

Which I'm interpreting as "we'll see this one in the Supreme Court soon".

As the Reagan appointed judge - Reagan that well known liberal, pointed out, it's unconstitutional. More of a culture war than something he can get through even with a partisan Supreme Court I think
 
Not sure martyrdom would make much difference now. Trumpism in his first term was really just about him, now it's wider than that given who he's surrounding himself with. The mouthpiece would change, but I'm not sure the priorities wider outlook would. Biden has a lot to answer for.

At the moment a lot of stuff is being accepted because it’s coming straight from Trump. Change the messenger and the messages may will be received differently.

I don't think they would because you are talking about a situation where he's been murdered. Everything would be done in his name, if anything it could be more extreme 'It's what Donald would have wanted'.

Maybe, but his character appeals to a lot of Americans. Lose that and the message will be received differently. Reality is he’s there for four years and maybe when some of his policies take effect they’ll be viewed differently.

Only this morning there was a discussion how Musk gets visas for engineers from India as they’re cheap - he won’t want that to change which goes against Trump’s immigration policy. Similarly Tesla is totally reliant on the supply chain from China. It won’t be long before Donny and Elon are falling out and that will be the time to get the popcorn out as that will do Trump more harm than anything the Democrats do in the foreseeable future.
