Trump

Agreed. Freedom of speech/choice doesn’t come with freedom of consequence.

Ultimately if people want to gloat about his death (not suggesting anyone has on here, to clarify) then I think that’s rancid. The guy was hardly Hitler.
Not Hitler but still a cunt. People like him are the reason Muslims get spat at in the street when they're going to Aldi. People like him are the reason kids get mowed down in US schools. Fuck him.

I don’t subscribe to that personally and saying ‘fuck him’ is celebrating his death the really? Each to their own I guess. Why political conversations become really toxic

I'd never heard of him until the night he was killed, and since then Youtube has been shoving his "debates" in my face at a really high frequency.
They are actually interesting and entertaining viewing, it's never a bad thing to hear the alternative view.

I was surprised at how many of my more right wing friends knew of him, then having watched his debates, i wasn't.

I don’t subscribe to a lot for his views, but did find it interesting the way he spoke and engaged in certain clips.

Albeit some of the other stuff was nonsensical. I just didn’t see him as how he’s being portrayed in some quarters.

Yeah he definitely doesn't come across like a lot of the moronic, mouth breathers.

Obviously I find a lot of his views abhorrent, but at least he could actually articulate himself.

He said that if someone raped his daughter he'd make her carry the child to term. He might've breathed through his nose but he was definitely a moron.

He was 100% pro life and anti abortion. So taking it the extreme, then yeah he would believe that.

Not quite sure how he could make her carry the child, but that’s another matter all together. It’s just not something you would say. Was the question put to him, or did he openly come out with it?

Given his views on gun control he very much got what he deserved. He himself said a certain number of deaths each year was a price worth paying for his second amendment rights. 31 years on Earth, and he spent most of it spreading division and hatred. Oh and he was a 'Christian' too of course.🤮😂

Said abortion was worse than the Holocaust. Fucking bat shit stuff.

The gun thing certainly has a sense of irony about it, and frankly, I couldn’t disagree more with his opinion on guns. I don’t think he then deserved to be shot still.

The holocaust one was grim. Again, though, from memory he was more relating it to numbers, believing abortion is murder and more lives being ‘lost’ to abortion than the holocaust, which statistically is true. He definitely used extremely provocative and powerful language at times

Being pro life that would be his answer. I guess at least he was consistent with that belief. Easy to say though but if the situation became reality, I wonder if he would’ve stuck to it.

Personally just think the worlds fucked currently, the murder of iryna, war in Gaza, Russia doing what they’re doing. Countless other stuff that won’t make it to media. It’s a worrying time

Yup. For example:

Black people

  • “Happening all the time in urban America, prowling Blacks go around for fun to go target white people, that’s a fact. It’s happening more and more.” (source)

Black pilots

  • “If I see a Black pilot, I’m gonna be like, ’Boy, I hope he’s qualified.’” (source)

Black women

  • “They're coming out, and they're saying, 'I'm only here because of affirmative action.' Yeah, we know. You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously. You had to go steal a white person's slot to go be taken somewhat seriously." (source)

Civil rights

  • “We made a huge mistake when we passed the Civil Rights Act in the mid-1960s.” (source)

Death penalty

  • "[Death penalties] should be public, should be quick, should be televised… I think at a certain age, it’s an initiation… At what age should you start to see public executions?" (source)

Democrats

  • “The Democrat Party supports everything that God hates.” (source)

Empathy

  • "I can't stand the word empathy, actually. I think empathy is a made up new age term that does a lot of damage." (source)

Feminism

  • “Reject feminism. Submit to your husband, Taylor. You're not in charge." (source)

Gay people

  • “You might want to crack open that Bible of yours. In a lesser referenced part of the same part of scripture, is in Leviticus 18 is that, ‘thou shalt lay with another man shall be stoned to death.’ Just sayin’! So Miss Rachel, you quote Leviticus 19… the chapter before affirms God’s perfect law when it comes to sexual matters.” (source)

George Floyd

  • “This guy was a scumbag.” (source)

Great Replacement Theory

  • “It's not a Great Replacement Theory, it's a Great Replacement Reality. Just this year, 3.6 million foreigners will invade America. 10-15 million will enter by the end of Joe Biden's term. Each will probably have 3-5 kids on average while native born Americans have 1.5 per couple. You are being replaced, by design.” (source)

Guns

  • “It’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment.” (source)

Jews

  • “Jewish donors have been the number one funding mechanism of radical open-border, neoliberal, quasi-Marxist policies, cultural institutions and nonprofits. This is a beast created by secular Jews and now it’s coming for Jews, and they're like, ‘What on Earth happened?’ And it's not just the colleges. It's the nonprofits, it's the movies, it's Hollywood, it's all of it.” (source)

Martin Luther King Jr.

  • “MLK was awful. He's not a good person. He said one good thing he actually didn't believe.” (source)

Muslims

  • “They aren’t even hiding their intentions. Muslims plan to conquer Europe by demographic replacement. Will Europe wake up in time?” (source)

Palestine

  • “I don’t think the place exists.” (source)

Transgender people

  • “You’re an abomination to God.” (source)

Lad at work in his 20s asked me if this is the "scariest" time I've lived through (made me feel old) and I guess as I was a young child during the 80s, it probably is!

Would expect those who were more conscious of the Cold War in the 80s would consider that period more frightning though?

Was there a kind of freedom to that though? That it could all end in an instant? Where as now feels like a constant build of tension and depression with no real sign of hope?
