Wolves Women Thread

Only just seen this story/thread. For full transparency, i don’t really follow woman’s football. So if I appear ignorant/ill informed then it isn’t deliberate. Apologies if these questions have been answered,

1. Is there a criteria they have to meet to be promoted other than points - like in rugby there was a criteria regarding stadiums
2. Has a reason been given for why they didn’t apply/costs involved
3. I can’t imagine the woman’s team being a huge cost on the club?

Irrelevant of the above points, it just seems like a massive own goal by the club. It stinks of ‘we have a woman’s team however we’re not really arsed about them’ which is totally wrong.

Surely if they weren’t meeting the criteria it wouldn’t be that difficult to meet it? Makes the club just look massively out of touch l, again…
Of course, the real kicker is that we've filled the form in for the last few years. They just couldn't be bothered this year. And couldn't be bothered to tell anyone.

So the "criteria" part is a red herring - we already meet the majority of them quite happily. And the cost of Wolves Women is utterly peanuts - as someone put it "a rounding error in the accounts". And that cost goes against PSR anyway, so it's effectively free.

That was me. I might be semi-retired from writing but I can still pull out a turn of phrase here and there :D

I mean you could go up, invest basically £0 and accept relegation. To stop the team from even having a go is beyond the pale.

But hey, we don't know the full story, guys.

"Fosun has made no secret of how it views the women’s team as a vehicle for participation rather than a chance to reach elite, full-time football," according to the Athletic article.

So why the fuck did they scrap the u21s squad last summer if they are focused on participation?

Just confused now in one word the players are shocked by the fact no application was made but then I’m reading that Fosun have never had any intention of supporting the side into professionalism.
The two don’t fit together in a logical world

Fosun have completed the paperwork to support promotion for the last few season and the women's team has been close to promotion before, so never an issue.

This season Fosun didn't bother with the paperwork because "the men's team might get relegated" but the players weren't informed until the season had ended. They were close to promotion again but finishing top would have meant fuck all.

Fosun now saying that the women's team is just a lower level "participation" team and they won't fund the next step. Their messaging is shit, confused and doesn't add up

Particularly when this season they made the step of making three players semi pro for the first time.

Three of the staff (all men) are full time too. Though the head coach is paid in full by the RAF so doesn't really count against the club.

In one statement it’s about principle.
Another statement it’s about being a stepping stone low level side.
They wanted promotion before as paperwork was submitted.
The player outrage tells you all you need to know.
Just be honest state you’ve wanted promotion in previous seasons but had to draw back on this due to the risk of relegation to the men’s team. Stop pretending it’s all planned and own your fuck ups.
