Best holiday destinations

Generally fly BA if heading to NA but booked flights for Canada via Air Canada yesterday. New one to use and not badly priced. Even if they do appear to go down to Economy Minus - No bags, no food, might squeeze you in somewhere, possibly in an overhead locker.

True, all I do nowadays, last time I booked a flight only was to Australia over 20yrs ago.
Edit: have been to Canada flight only a couple of times.

For coming over here Singapore Airlines are the best in my experience. BA/Qantas are perfectly serviceable, and Emirates is good. Came over with Etihad last time and wasn't such a big fan, although that was probably the stupid long Abu Dhabi - Melbourne leg counting against it. That was a bit brutal.

Best flight to Aus was Singapore Airlines 2002, had an upgrade on the flight from Singapore as they had given the seats I'd reserved to someone else.

Airline loyalty has paid for our family summer holiday to the US so there is that.

That’s a very nice reward for sure. My daughter is Kuala Lumpur at the moment with her loyalty points having done the same thing, but I’m thinking realistically only business users that can get to those sort of rewards.

She’s on planes 3 or 4 times a week but only to Europe and Scandinavia, I guess the longer haul flights get you the same rewards quicker.

I get lounge access at airports with BA (which have to say if fantastic) and am edging towards a one-off free upgrade, but rewards covering a family holiday to the US is serious going

Last couple of flights with Emirates (Singapore and Bangkok) have been poor for me.

We’re flying Gulf Air in October, which I’ve never experienced.

But less than £750 for two to Singapore was too good not to try them out.

Very nice indeed. Have to ask is that your final destination?

Reason for asking is I’ve been seriously burned missing connecting flights on long haul. I know you can get compensation if the entire departure-to-final-destination is made as one booking using the same airline throughout, but from experience that is a challenge in itself.

It’s bad enough when Ryanair bumps your off you nice flight time to a less convenient one buggering up the timings of your lads weekend to Prague or whatever, but for long haul can have serious ramifications.

I tended to book the flight with a few hours stopover in Singapore to allow for a bit of a delay. Changi is such a nice airport that it is no great ballache to hang around there for a bit.

No we’re flying onto Perth afterwards, but after a 3 night stay and so just using the Singapore Airlines budget airline for that hop across.

That 'hop' across is about 5 hours duration!

After flipping all over the place in deciding a destination for my birthday next year have finally sorted it.

Fly into Montreal - and take in the F1 race
Then drive to Toronto and then some driving around from that base inc Niagra Falls (Niagra on the Lake looks a stunning little town to visit on the drive back along the southern side of Lake Ontario.

So any suggestions for the areas greatly received.

Happy with that as never been to Canada.

Have a our dog holiday in the Lincolnshire Wolds this year. Cottage on a farm with a many acres for the dogs to explore.
Later this year off to Madeira as well and staying in Ronnie 7's hotel.

Tough spell for the wife last year with her health and holidays were cancelled, so making up for it this year, starting in 2 weeks for her birthday trip to NYC.

Niagara on the Lake is lovely. We had lunch in a revolving restaurant on top of a casino, with views all around the area including Buffalo New York.
We did an ice wine tour in that region too, really enjoyed it.
Toronto is also class, if you are there during the hockey season, you should visit Air Canada centre for Maple Leafs game. If you are there in summer, they have the Blue Jay's baseball team.
