Boris at it again and the contest to replace the lying c***

How will we notice the difference with him isolating?

the lack of self awareness is astounding. He and his team probably thought that this could be utilised as a great PR example to the nation, by him self isolating. However all it shows is that he, as pretty much most conservatives have done throughout, is not follow their own rules. Photo's being released since highlight this even more.

We are in a lockdown of sorts on the basis that cases, admissions to hospitals and deaths are at levels that we can barely cope with. The previous tier system wasn't working and Dr Susan Hopkins, a deputy director of Public Health England, said that the tier system in place in England before the lockdown was not succeeding in fully controlling the virus.

The spokesman of the not so great one signalled that Johnson does not accept the claim -The natural rate of R is about 3 and in all parts of the country, including the areas that were in tier 1 [before the England-wide lockdown] it was very significantly below that. So the measures were having an impact on controlling the virus.

When will we ever to be able to have a grown up debate about anything. If it was working then why did you have to u-turn into a lockdown? Are we to be grateful that cases, admissions and deaths aren't tripling weekly and you should be applauded for not wiping out 100s of thousands of the population? Absolute cretin.

Yeah, that line of argument is nonsense (even if I personally don't believe hospitality should be closed in a blanket manner, the data doesn't reflect that being a useful course of action on balance).

In what world were we going to do nothing? The "natural rate" will never happen while we have widespread social distancing, working from home, facemasks, sanitising etc.

Ah but the lockdown is only delaying deaths according to a huge swathe of Tory MP's. Mind you so is eating and drinking. At least they were* consistent when refusing to feed hungry kids in the recent half term.

It's like having Andy Lonergan in goal and backing him up by saying "ah, imagine if we didn't have a goalkeeper at all, we'd concede hundreds a season".

Near midnight here in Oz, but I've just read an article that Boris has announced:

"Britain will ban the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles by 2030 as part of a “green industrial revolution” that will “transform living in the UK’’ and make it the first G7 country to decarbonise road transport."

Is this for real ?

Are you guys going back to the horse and cart ?

Sales of IC cars are already dropping, makes no sense to continue offering them if there is a better alternative.

Is this just for new vehicle sales (including trucks/prime movers) or will this include all 2nd hand vehicles as well ?

Rumours about Rishi wanting to impose fees per miles driven because of loss of tax revenue from fuel tax as well as leaving the current Road Tax model in place so you will still be taxed twice to drive if you don't have an electric vehicle.
So Toll roads everywhere which will go down well. Having to pay extra to play "dodge the pothole"

The hype for electric cars is getting out of hand - really not sure how green they will be seeing as how we will have to generate the electricity (& provide a network to re fuel them) plus the build CO2 input is masive, particularly with scarce metals.

They say that they are cheaper to run, but that's before the loss of fuel duty on petrol/diesal cars & road tax kicks in then other taxes will occur to recover the cost anyway.

There are other potential technologies which should have been funded years ago to see whether they gave a better potential outcome.

LPG fuel for one

Just to clarify, there's no such thing as road tax 😉
