I don't believe managers actually do this do they?

Minimise the chances of them winning a game to make a point!?

If nothing else it shows that VP sees JRB as our 3rd choice CM.

He has performed well there in the past, for me it was Gomes rather than Andre who was weaker against City.
I can’t imagine it for a second in this case. It was, if you like, a poor joke to show how perplexed I am at the decision.

Of course it could just be that based on training JRB is, in VP’s mind, the best choice today. Which in turn is an awful place to be.

I mean the last time we played Jean in the middle he was excellent. I’d probably rather he was paired with André tho.

I think its been mentioned a few times as something managers may do.

Although that's more about if they name a weak, smaller bench i guess.

Count on one hand how many times he’s done well there. He’s 3rd choice because there’s no other choice full stop.

ie not ready to start Hoever shouldn’t be starting when you’ve bought someone in?
He probably should still start just at a different position... cause Doherty thinks he's playing forward half the time.

I’m not sure Doherty knows he’s playing at all sometimes.

He probably sees JRB as being more capable of bringing the ball out past the bmouth press....or something

If he isn't up to speed with tactics, set pieces, patterns etc i can understand why he'd pick Hoever instead. Also Hoever probably had his best performance for Wolves last week it could crush him long term to not give him one last chance.

Still playing Doc at CH when Mos is on the bench.
I can see why this is happening.

Properly taking it easy with him. I expect him to start on Tuesday and certainly be a starter in the PL soon after that (if he doesn't break of course)

That’s top level sport for you, and if being dropped crushes you then top level sport isn’t for you it’s cut throat you have to show character.
Even at his best he’s not up to this level regardless.

Presume - yes but then again we don't know if time taken to go home and sort shit out.
Not as simple as moving from one place in the UK to another.
He wouldn’t be on the bench then

Lopez should be up to pace by now though and we don’t have the privilege of bedding players in slowly kind of need to slot in quickly.

Hoever is shite. Jackson should be playing. I don’t care for the excuses 😉

Yet another game where people are rolling out the excuses as to why the line up looks like it does.
