Tottenham 1-1 Wolves: Verdict Thread

We are at the end of September and yesterday was the best performance for a few of the new players. Particularly Arias (who I thought was superb and showed yesterday why he was signed). Which just goes to show the issue with the slower window and people saying "The window hasn't closed yet" in terms of defending not having replacements in quicker despite the outgoings, as we have potentially thrown away a months worth of points whilst trying to build cohesion.

Whilst I am still desperate for a new keeper. I would absolutely leave Johnstone in goal and rotate Sa to the cup keeper/back up based on the evidence of both this season.

Yeah that was a lot better, I didn't see that performance coming at all, and we deserved to win. Gutted to concede so late, especially after the defence (and Johnstone tbf) had played so well.

There's still plenty of work to do and lots to improve on, but the attitude of the players was much more like it. We pressed and closed down a lot better, we seemed to communicate better, there was more movement.

Also a bit more like it from Arias - definitely something there, let's hope he can build on that.

Santi's best game in a Wolves shirt. I've never rated him at all but he was excellent. Our best player aside from Andre who needs to be the first name on the team sheet.

We still desperately need to win ASAP, particularly with the upcoming fixtures - carry on with the right attitude and it'll come.

Though I guess statistically all corners are feast or famine, and overwhelmingly the latter, if you measure in goals as opposed to, well, what?
Fairs but the optics are worse when you don’t beat the first man I guess

A very pleasing result on Saturday evening , even if we did concede so late . Perhaps that's no harm , it'll galvanise them , annoy them you'd like to think .
Spurs are 4th right now . That's a good result and performance .

When you're trying to find any kind of form to pick up points you must start at the back and fix things from there . We've changed the keeper and made several changes at the back since the beginning of the season , and finally it appears to be working . Midfield - Gomes and Andre were always our first choice , but Vitor has changed that up a bit as well .
Up front - we're lacking in a goal scoring threat for now , but let's concentrate on keeping the goals conceded down first .

Great to see Krejci settling in so quickly , and Santi looking composed beside him . Hugo is a threat going forward , but is still a problem going backwards , and that's hard to improve if it has never been a strength .
Who plays in the other full back/wing back slot is still up for grabs , but Jackson did his chances no harm on Saturday .

The one thing about Vitor - he's not afraid to change things . He dropped Agba and Toti on Saturday - two big calls when you consider how wedded he had been to picking both . One of those was the captain as well .
He has changed goalkeeper , kept Arias on the bench for a few matches , has finally dropped Doherty and I think is managing the new players well in terms of not insisting that they played all opening matches .

I'd love to see Vitor make a go of it - it will be a lot tougher this season when you consider that two of the promoted sides have started quite well - one very well .
You'd have to think that West Ham will pull out of the bottom three , and Newcastle won't be down there for long either .
Perhaps the above is a good thing - make us aim higher , toughen us up , focus the minds .

Long long way to go .

PS....How about starting Tolu against Brighton and bring on JSL ? Tolu is a handful and is settling in well .
