- JSL & Toti both have the flu and are doubts for this weekend. Can't get any luck with JSL, can we?

- the new players are now starting to realise what is expected from them week in, week out in the Premier League

- Was asked about Arias. Didn't want to talk specifically about him, but said for all the new signings, they've arrived from different countries, different languages, need to sort houses out, bring family over, ensure they are comfortable - then you have all the tactical differences, expectations from manager and fans, intensity of the PL etc etc - this all takes time. Last couple of weeks he's started to see an improvement.

- was asked whether Sam Johnstone is his number 1 now. didn't confirm or deny. Just said that each player has to compete for their place and that there are "no gifts", but if they are chosen to start it's because they deserve it. Said he needs the players to feel "proud of their work" at the end of each day

- was asked how the big name players have reacted to being dropped or left out, and Vitor said they are "all working hard and pushing themselves"

- Vitor believes that JSL & Tolu can play together in the same team, but JSL has been struggling with injuries since the beginning of the season - he still has pain. He's trying to help but it's an issue and he's not at his best level. In respect to Tolu, he didn't have a proper pre-season so is still working to get to his best level.

Hopefully JSL is OK to play some part at the end cos doubt Tolu can play 90.
Johnstone has to play, I dont rate him but he's been fine last few games.
For me absolutes are, Johnstone, Krejci, Santi, Joao, Andre, Arias. Munestsi will almost certainly start. Hugo probably deserves to keep his spot but wouldn't mind Wolfe featuring.
Think it might be something like this.

So he's been playing with a broken wrist since August?

Has a terrible attitude though.

I mean, Vitor didn't even mention Doc in the presser. But they always do that weird thing where they request the cameras get turned off - and then they'll go on to discuss other stuff. I assume that's when Vitor revealed that particular bombshell.

People can say what they want about Doc, but we've looked a better side with him in/around it over the last 1-2 years. We need more experienced homegrown players.

We need more experienced homegrown players.

We need better players. I’m less interested in more mediocre players who make up for that by having been mediocre for a sustained period of time. Homegrown for me only due to regulations, or you get the ‘Tommy Doyle is a just a victim of circumstances’ bridge.

Get the right quality of player and they bring the maturity we evidently have lacked of late as part of the package. See 2017 - 2020. Matt Doherty’s age has been poor compensation for young players with the right attitude we’ve lost.

I still hope he gets better soon. It’s not the dichotomy it’s painted to be in comments above.

We need goals from somewhere . JSL is hardly going to start between the injury and flu .
I do think that Tolu will be good for us , but he's not match fit ~ a slight problem that .
Hwang will have to start , or how about Mane ?
What's he up to ?

Why the persistence with Hwang? Apart from the occasional goal he contributes nothing. I would much rather see Rodrigo or Lopez in that position.

I hope im wrong but there are at least four players in here who are not up to the standard we need for PL survival.

Brighton are a good side.

This doesn’t look a team capable of beating them.
