Brighton (H) 05/10/25 - Build up & Match day thread

Rubbish tactics after a solid 60 minutes. Huge two games coming up. Vitor is lucky to still have a job

I think we're good enough to stay up.

But once Andre, Gomes, and JSL go - we're screwed.

The player acquisition lately has been terrible. The only really good one is Krejci.

We keep signing these players who can't even secure a decent first touch. It's very sad.

Two points thrown away today by negative tactics trying to defend a 1 goal lead. It didn't work last weekend and it didn't today either, we were unfortunate last weekend but basically asked for it today.

Individual errors have cost us today.

Arias should score, it's a sitter.

JSL when he sees that gap should score.

Jackson should let it go (and he should get a call)

None of those are VP's fault.

But I agree he should have brought Tolu on, but I understand why he thought Munetsi's press could be more effective than Tolu who is less mobile.
You’re right, but a lot of the changes were after the events you’ve mentioned. We went to defensive personally

2 points from 7 matches and no win in 11 games. We’re going down, even last season I think we pick at least 4 points from these 2 matches.
Panic tactics from 60 minutes onwards, people can do one stating it’s just individual errors. We’re fucking terrible and can’t win to save our lives.
Plucky draws and defeats are useless when you’re bottom of the league.
Al the clowns thinking this a good marker for us getting a win at Sunderland then look how the plucky effort at Newcastle turned v Leeds.
VP needs 6 points from these next 2 otherwise he should be toast

That's down to vitor today.
Rodrigo would at least have given us an out ball, with arias fucked, and tolu for jsl was a no brainer.

Why have we gone more defensive at home against Brighton than away at Spurs?

We've cursed a lack of a replacement striker and having to play with 0 strikers for years and Vitor willingly and actively decided that was the way to go today.

Oh my word, what a fucking save.
There are about 5 of you saying the same thing.
I'm stuck in France trying to follow this, could someone, anyone just put a little context onto it please! It's fucking meaningless just reading empty stuff like that, and really frustrating.

Terrible subs really, all on Vitor if we don't win here.
Thats a bit harsh! Vitors been sent off, he's in the stands, I don't believe he can communicate with the bench and he can't join them at half time.
How's it his fault?
That said, who IS making these decisions?

The game finished 3.5 hours ago 😂

I believe you’re referring to comments made above about Johnstone making a fantastic save.
by whom??
JSL hit the post and that would have been 2-0 and game over.

I won’t spoil things for you and tell you the final score 😉

I know the games over Jinky, but I'm reading the 'Match report' before reading the verdict thread. I know I shouldn't, but I am.
It was more towards anyone posting during the next match. Just add a few details, or it's not worth bothering with.
It doesn't even say Johnstone in the post, it's just 'Great save!' I mean why fucking bother at all?
I know most people don't bother reading the 'matchday thread', I can sure see why, maybe I should join them.
But thanks for responding, seeing as the game was over ages ago, You're very good.

Yeah, I’d say don’t bother with the matchday thread and hop straight to the verdict next time 😂

The matchday thread is just a bunch of people watching the game at the same time and using that space to comment on what’s happening/release frustration/excitement etc in.

You won’t gain anything meaningful from reading it after the match, my friend.

In that moment everyone reading and watching live would know exactly what "great save" would be referring too.

No need in that context to say who made the save at all.
