Coronavirus

In the USA 2019/20 stats suggest mortality rates from influenza of those aged between 5-17 stood at 0.3 per 100,000. (63.8% of those up to the age of 17 had the influenza vaccine)

Given the flu vaccine does not prevent transmission (Interestingly in respect of delta varient Fauci suggests both vaxxed and unvaxxed carry the same viral load) I'm not sure vaccinating that age group will make much of a difference.

Meanwhile across the globe people face being sacked from their jobs and refused entry to places where people socialise for merely reserving the right to choose whether or not they take the vaccine.

Am still doing 'risk assessment' before deciding to go to any particular event or use public transport, but we really cannot keep shutting the country down.
My only “risk assessment” before going to a gig or football match is if I was to contract covid at said events what further gigs/matches would I miss in the period of isolation.

Pretty much everything is back to normal in my life now, apart from maybe the spontaneity of booking a cheap last min break away without having to now take out a loan to be able to afford a cottage in the lakes.

Prices everywhere are mental. Had to properly pay through the nose for a hotel in Manchester this weekend, we're seeing Turin Brakes tomorrow.

I'd like to take Mrs DW to the Christmas lights at Blenheim Palace this year (she wanted to do it last year but Fatty McCunt put us back into lockdown), I'm not remortgaging my house to do it though.

Turin Brakes was the last gig I went to. Feb 2020 at The Newhampton Arts Centre. They were superb. Watched Wolves 0-0 against Man Utd before hand where Pod made his debut I think. Not quite so superb.

Enjoy. I have seen a couple of gigs at Manchester Cathedral and it's a unique venue.

As conclusive as it gets mate. Hope you're not feeling too rough

Well at least you guys have some sort of normal life . . . it's still batshit crazy here in Oz.

We're moving to a medical apartheid society where vaccine passports are being adopted. If you've not vaxxed, you will lose your job (here in Victoria) and simply will not be allowed to participate in society (ie no shopping, going out, eating out etc) apart from grocery needs. Here in Victoria the Premier has even canvassed denying unvaxxed access to hospitals.

Still in lockdown in Melbourne (the lockdown capital of the world) now at 258 days as of today (still under a curfew). Likely to get released probably next week when we hit 70% vaxxed for the state, but highly limited ie can only travel 25 kms, eating out only allowed outside, shops can only open but also outside only ! ! ! And, you're not allowed any visitors to your house. These restrictions are planned to ease once we hit 80% vaxxed - note we're at mid-80s for single jabs - likely to be sometime in early November.

Medical apartheid, Australia style, is mild compared with selective persecutions throughout history. But persecution it is just the same. And people not affected look the other way. No prominent principled leaders around – no need for anyone with even an ounce of the courage of Dietrich Bonhoeffer – to rail against the mindless injustice of it all. I’m alright Jack, stuff you.

Even if this episode ends without further persecution of the unvaxxed; it is a forever-stain on Australia. And it makes it that much easy to single out dissidents for special treatment in the future. Those perimeter-secured, purpose-built, quarantine camps are ready and waiting.

It can’t happen here? Well it has already.

If you can have a vaccine, and if you have refused it, then good. They are walking round with the potential to kill others.

Or you can just let them wander around freely, wonder how that will go...

Are you vaccinated?

Are you vaccinated?
Actually I am . . . but I believe it is an abomination that your status in society is being determined by a medical procedure.

it’s not if your vaxxed then you can’t still can’t catch it or even pass it on.

But the effects are reduced therefore making it safer for everyone?
