Farage Ltd and Similar Watch

Opinions vary. I’d rather not see more and more of our countryside turned into housing estates.
90% of the UK is rural, and we have 70 million people.

So, 50k asylum seekers a year isn't going to make any difference at all.

Yes, it absolutely is. There is no reason to go on a march led by fascists if you're not a fascist, or at the very least a fascist enabler.

Having concerns is fine. Having a frank and open discussion is fine. Being right of centre is fine (if misguided IMHO). But going on a march with the 2020s equivalent of the National Front, when you know exactly who is leading it and speaking at it? Behave.

There’s not a lot of point in continuing with this, we’ve made our views clear and it’s futile trying to get the other to respect our views.

I hope when you’re amongst friends drowning your sorrows over a pint with Farage as PM and the U.K. following the utter chaos of the USA you can reflect on what the left did to facilitate that instead of being oblivious and blaming everybody else.

When a society is successful, people tend to vote for centrist parties, but when social and/or economic problems arise voters look to more radical parties (left and right). Unfortunately the UK and US have little history of successful left wing radicalism (since the labour party of 1945). There is nowhere on the left for the disenfranchised masses to congregate, so the right always attracts them. The UK needs a Corbyn or a Green Party capable of articulating a message to capture some of these people.
Furthermore the UK is now firmly entrenched within the US media empire - with Rupert Murdoch to the fore. Another seemingly insurmountable problem.

I think wim fucked!

Oh, so I get it. Going on a fascist march, surrounded by fascists, organised by fascists, and supporting those fascists doesn't make someone a fascist. Riiiiiight.

Next I suppose someone's going to tell me that I should "go home" because I'm not English; and neither is my wife; and god alone knows where they want my kids to "go home" to - presumably the middle of the sea somewhere half way between. And maybe I should tell a couple of close friends who are trans that they don't count as real humans. And that's without considering the massive positives that immigration and new cultures has brought us.

If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and goes on a duck march, then presumably it's a "concerned goose".

50k is a town the size of Royal Leamington Spa being added every year. Of course it makes a difference. Dismissive comments that are wrong don’t help have a sensible debate.

No, you really don’t get it.

But you keep doing you, I’m not sure how you’re going to cope with what’s coming but tbh I’m beyond caring now.

If the birth rate went up by 50k in a year would you have a similar aneurysm?

Yeah. It will all be your fault Law’s!!

Lovely turn of phrase. I’d like my country to control who comes in, not be subject to the weather in the Channel determining how many people arrive here. Little bit different to worrying about birth rates.

As someone who grew up in the 80s - in a West Midlands where multiculturalism was a default, and we've had 40 years following on of it - I have no time for discussing politics or indeed anything who think England is the exclusive preserve of white people.

They're not worth talking to.
Going back 41 years...

I much preferred Cambridge Wolf...

Yeah, you’re right Leeds, me too.

I never used to get so involved in this shit, it damaging and making me a worse person.

I don’t do SM anywhere else as it’s too toxic, TWF has always been a more balanced place for opinion sharing which is one of the many reasons I was attracted to it in the first place.

I’ll reflect on everything that’s been said and will retract a little, the direction of travel has not been good for myself at all.

You hit the mark in one powerful short sentence there, I thank you for that.

what with Alan getting the rap for all the division in the States has TWF become the cause of world ills? All we need is THM to return and blame us for the brexit, that we told him would be shit, being shit.

Even if many or most of them aren't fascists, they are certainly aligning with them on this issue and absolutely need to be called out as useful idiots.

Starmer repeatedly tries to engage with and appease them by being tough on immigration, but if anything it's emboldening them, not taking the wind out of their one-issue sails. It's not a matter of politics here, it's a matter of our core values. I mean in the US, UK and Germany the right is literally taking about mass deportations, even of citizens if they are deemed different. I grew up in the 70s and 80s, and that kind of talk was confined to documentaries about the Third Reich. You are unfortunately probably right about Farage or Musks favoured dog becoming the next PM, with the US already showing us how that will turn out :(

Exactly.

Let's talk about an incredibly similar "protest" that happened in London on 4 October 1936. Organised by fascists, tick. Attended by fascists, tick. Speakers, fascists like Oswald Mosley and William Joyce.

Is it "a few fascists and a bunch of people who said 'you know what, they've got some points?'" Absolutely not.
