This was so, so, so obvious from the outside. It amazes me that O'Neil never reverted to a 'basics first' approach when the wheels started falling off and instead just blamed the players for not being able to perfectly implement his mega-brain tactical tweaks every week.

It's something he'll have to change drastically if he's ever going to have more than a brief impact at any club.

His total inability to defend set pieces suggests he simply doesn’t have “basics first” in his skill set. It wasn’t just this season we were dreadful defensively. Last season when we had kids playing up front any competent manager would have realised goals were going to be hard to come by and taken a safety first approach knowing it would be easier to concede less than score more.

TV Revenue: £133m (75% of total revenue)
Commercial Revenue: £29m (16% of total revenue)
Matchday Revenue: £16m (9% of total revenue)

I think that highlights clearly how little impact matchday revenue actually makes on our financial ability to grow as a club. And why Shi choosing to raise prices constantly whilst claiming the increased revenue it brings is necessary, is actually a pittance in the grand scheme of things.

As for the wage bill, we were 14th in the league at £142m.
