General Wolves News

Yeah no way Brentford and probably Bournemouth finish that high, or Utd/Spurs that low.

We'll finish higher too

Have a go at beating the supercomputer here……

Even with our transfer business 😉

Yep, it's not been great but there should be more to come, and maybe a little squad filler in Jan too.

As long as we can keep Vitor happy and we don't have someone like JSL, Sa, one of the CMs or Agba out for a long time, we'll be OK.

But we should be trying to be more than just OK

Wolverhampton Wanderers? Aye... they're OK, I s’pose. Not like in our day, mind — we 'ad to watch football by candlelight, with broken legs, uphill both ways, and we were grateful for it! But these young lads nowadays, runnin’ about in their golden shirts, kickin’ the ball like it’s goin’ out o’ fashion... aye, they’re OK. Not great, mind you — but OK.

Don’t know what data it’s using but I assume last seasons form is weighted heavily in it. Spurs and United massive outliers who are highly unlikely to be that bad again, Palace with Europe and no signings and Eze and Guehi linked away unlikely to finish top half let alone 7th. Brentford!? Bournemouth!? Top 4 and bottom 6 probably not a million miles off with Brentford added in.

Lots of Carabao games tonight, when is the draw for the next round?

Hoping for a shit lower league team at home when we do enter, this is always a tournament we should be looking to win while we're in this league.

Draw is either before or after the Birmingham game tomorrow

Wolves are the footballing equivalent of 1984.
Jeff is Big Brother
Managers and players are part of the party.
If they step out of line or try and do any good they disappear.
The fans are the proles who the party don’t care about, feed propaganda and treat like crap.
Success is slavery
Mediocrity is peace

Last 12 winners - Man City 6 times, Man Utd and Liverpool twice each, Chelsea and Newcastle once each.

While I wish we would take cup competitions more seriously, it usually ends up in the hands of the big boys

I’ve been a little bit away from it all. Catching up on Wolves content in the last 24 hours it’s striking how downbeat the mood is. Not that that’s not justified. More that there have been moments in recent history when I personally have been more annoyed with the club (Lage appointment and the Lopetegui departure fiasco). Where we are right now is unacceptable despite the wider market, and I’m probably as sceptical as anyone else on here about the likelihood of really transformative and exciting activity before the end of the month. Simply noticeable how the usual optimists seem to have reached a tipping point, even though they could find the kind of grounds for hope that would normally suffice. I’m still happier now with VP at the helm and an unknown quantity looking after recruitment than at the same point last year with GON and the golf club lads in charge. That’s despite the doubtless bleak scenario and looking forward to Saturday evening about as much as a trip to the dentist.

I think it's mainly fatalism because, in spite of a popular new manager who did a good job last season, we haven't pushed on with him and supported his plans to enable an optimistic view on the coming season. We've actually regressed on the playing side, as it stands.

The fatalism comes from suspecting that, regardless of VP and Teti being new blood, those higher up are still pulling the same tricks, and what reason is there to believe the end result will be different from what we've had for the last 5 years?

The only optimistic take could be that actually things have changed with VP and Teti on board, and it's just the change of direction that's slowed us down, and when we catch up at the end of the window, we'll be in a better place. Guess that remains to be seen

Yep. And the fatalist view is the only logical one. However, I just can’t cope with looking ahead to a season as grim as logic suggests, so I’m going to fight hard to retain some belief in your optimistic scenario. Until the point that’s gone too.

Tbf it's a possible scenario that other posters on here who know their stuff (Lycan etc) have mooted more than me, but I'm hoping there's something to it!
