Is Vitor Pereira A Good Manager Or Should He Go?

Burnley is to Vitor as Ipswich was to GON?
As to who comes in, I'm not sure it makes much difference given the lack of quality.
I'd still get rid.

Well it definitely matters, especially given there are 90 points still to play for.

I know people are down in the dumps at the moment, but I think our squad is capable of getting us at least 17th.

The biggest issue is creating and scoring goals, but we know JSL can get around 15 if the service is there, we need to find a way to make that happen, whether it's set pieces, using Tolu as a foil, raw pace, or all 3, it can be done. Squads with far less quality have stayed up comfortably in this league.

Confidence is our biggest enemy at present. If, and it’s a big if, we can get a couple of wins on the bounce then I’m sure we’ll see quite an improvement from the players. Still not sure whether sacking VP would help especially as our recruitment pool would be quite low grade

Just don’t see it at all, we have no one to play left or right back that’s good enough consistently.
We’re asking Santi to be a regular because the stalwart from last season has forgotten the basics of defending.
Krejci yep PL quality, Toti pot luck what type of display he’ll turn out.
Andre J Gomes PL quality but being way overworked and under challenged for places.
Arias 8 games in and we’ve seen not a fat lot.
Lopez not trusted by VP seemingly then you’ve got MM works hard but just isn’t going to win you games.
JSL is reliant on service and there’s none providing it and I doubt that’ll change soon.

Just nowhere near enough quality, terrible sides stay up usually due to the terrible state of the bottom 3, ie Forest a couple of season ago
The 3 promoted aren’t terrible, not great granted.

If you're well organised and have confidence you don't need vast quality.

We have Krejci, Andre, Gomes and JSL who are all clearly quality players, Bueno has shown he can play at this level, and Agba has in the past (for what it is worth i dont think Agba comes back to form)

That's a very good spine, if we can keep SJ seemingly looking better and stop chopping and changing the FBs/WBs we have a decent shape.

Of course, whether VP can do that i don't know, but an average manager who comes in would be able to.

It's creating chances that worries me the most, and I don't see how that changes aside from getting Tolu and JSL playing together and going full route one and set pieces mode - which is far from a sure route.

In terms of average sides in the past who have stayed up, us, Forest (x 2), Brentford 23/24, West Ham, Villa, Burnley

And then you have Wilder's Sheff United team who caught everyone off guard with their tactics, how many of that squad are still even playing in the Prem? 2? 3?

Of course it's possible, whether we do it or not is another question obviously.

After Burnley we have Fulham, Chelsea, Palace and Villa and 3 of that 4 are away from home.

We simply aren't going to have many wins going into December. Maybe not any.

It's like a snooker player who keeps going 50+ points behind in every frame. Sure, he can come back and maybe he has in the past and won matches. Eventually though he'll just get battered.

We don't know our best GK - all have questions marks over them.
We've a wealth of defenders, but Vitor doesn't know his best back line.
We're short on midfield quality, and the risk is players playing there out of position. Gomes is already on 4 yellow cards FFS. It's a glaring hole that is going to be shown up very soon.
Up front, where are goals going to come from? I just can't see it. 8 games, and we've not scored in 4 of them.

What style of football are we trying to play? We've had a back 4, and a back 5. We've tried to set up counter attacking and found we don't have the players for it. We know for sure we're not building on a solid defence. What is our identity?

All I see at the moment is question marks.

Paragraph 5 is the reason we have little chance, we tried to win our previous 2 prior to the window 1-0 and still failed.
We’re not getting out of this pragmatically we don’t have the defensive quality to do that either. We don’t have the shithouse ability that the likes of Dyche and Frank sides had either.
We’re just not very good at everything due to our amazing recruitment.
To sum up there’s no one in the squad if they were injured I’d be genuinely gutted about unlike in previous seasons.

Not convinced even Pep could get much of a tune out of this Wolves squad. It's just not built to do much of anything in the Premier league, as demonstrated by the meagre points return. Not even any mercurial talents left in it now that might turn it around. It's January, again, or bust.

But the service isn’t there. We’ve lost Cunha and RAN who were responsible for the majority of the service JSL got last season and no amount of shuffling the available players or a change of tactics will change that.

In an attacking sense we’ve decided we’ll be fine turning up to a gun fight with a knife.

Its not even a knife, more like a spoon.
