Without wanting to go completely doom and gloom we've backed ourselves into a corner of which changing the manager isn't going to change all that much.

1) We get somebody in who can galvanise the squad and we somehow stay up, but all we do is end up in the same position next November. Fuck that.

2) We get somebody in who makes a fist of it but due to the gaps in quality within the squad we fall short and end up relegated.

3) We fuck up the decision making and go down humiliated. Either delay getting rid of Vitor impacting any new manager or don't have a plan for his replacement. Knowing Shi, both of these.

Games are decided by increasingly fine margins. Organisation is becoming more important than individual skill levels. Our squad is most definitely good enough to survive. Leeds and Sunderland beat us because they were better organised, not because they had inherently better players.
So I cannot agree that we are not good enough to stay up. However, and it really hurts me to say it, I do agree that VP is not the manager/coach to keep us in the prem.

Vitor seems like the kind of manager that can lift players and create belief. It worked when he was first appointed.

Tactically some of the decisions are difficult to understand from a fans point of view.

Key problem is how late we did our summer transfer business. The pre-season friendlies showed that the team were going to struggle in the league. It will take Vitor time to settle into a rhythm, be clear on who his best 11 are and what formation and roles they can play to the level needed in the Prem.

Time is against us but I think he will turn it around and we'll scrape by for another season.

For me it's not lack of organisation that's the real issue, we have looked competive enough for spells in games. We were the better team against Spurs for example, who were fucking rubbish admitedly, we never looked like conceeding, but we did eventually of course. But even the goal we scored against them was scruffy. No actual quality involved. That's the issue, we aren't scoring enough goals, we don't look like a team that is likely to score enough goals. We get into the final third and.... nothing. That's the issue.

The performances against Spurs and Brighton showed us that there is enough quality there - with a bit more courage - to stay up . Sunderland sucked a lot of that away - but if we saw it twice , then it's there .

One thing that annoys me is when you hear or see a player not putting the effort in and comments then defending him by saying that he was promised XYZ and Wolves have not delivered this .
These same players are not living on the breadline and worrying about feeding their family - they are highly paid by most peoples standard and will continue to be so as long as they stay clear of a career ending injury .
Even if the circumstances have changed I still expect them to put an effort in , still track back , still show leadership .

I'm not sure I've seen anyone in this VP side not putting it in?

Unfortunately we are at a stage where big efforts are even going against us. Krejci sprinting back to cover lead to the own goal for example.

(Which came from an overhit corner, Hugo was desperate to beat the first man, and it fucked us ironically)

I think quite often players get accused of 'not trying' during difficult times when it's often fatigue, injury etc.
That's not to say players dont sometimes just give up.

We rode our luck in the first half and aided by Xavi Simmons playing like a competition winner. We then managed to score a scrappy set piece and only then did we start to play well, even still it was simply keeping the ball and having a bit of control which we havent been used to. So even that period is a stretch to say 'well' it just wasnt 'fucking shit'.

Brighton much the same. We easily could have been behind, and created very little. But then a gift from a second phase set piece and a bit of luck on the OG see's us ahead. We then stunk the place out for the majority of the ssecond half, admittedly on of our journeys into their half Arias should score, but players miss chances and bad ones miss more. We have a team of players well below the league average.

I don't see these performances as reasons to be optimistic. Maybe grounds to be 'not so negative' in the fact that we may not get relegated with an embarassing points tally but relegated nonetheless. Draws were probably fair results in both. We dont create chances, we dont keep clean sheets in our 'good' performances, and with our personell I cant see it changing to a point where we are goign to win 10 out of the last 30 games

I don't know, it feels like you are saying if we score we are lucky/scrappy, but if the opposition don't score we are also lucky.

Brighton created very little, Arias missed a sitter and JSL should place his shot more accurately, but aside from that we didn't win that game purely because Jackson didn't get a shout/didn't have the awareness to realise that cross was going out. That particular moment wasn't bad luck it was just amateur from Jackson and cost us 2 points.

No, im going off the balance of play. We don't create chances to the point we pretty much have to score everyone we do create. JSL's chance isnt even a half chance. A moment of magic to develop the chance in the first place and the from a tight angle on his weak side (xG 0.05). We seem to dismiss the oppournities the opposition had but then feel very weak opportunitres for us we 'should score'.

They would have been much needed scrappy wins which may have then allowed us to build in to a better performance(s). But in isolation they were not performances that consistently warrant victories at this level.

They are for sure tryers - we can't fault the players, they are just mostly a bit shit.

I'm firmly in this camp. Our squad isn't good enough this year to get out of trouble, and our performances make that clear. I'm also in the camp that changing manager will change nothing, but that he'll have to go if we lose at the weekend.

Saying we just shouldn't bother, all is lost after 8 games, with 30 games to play and 90 points to play for is ludicrous/ridiculous.

You're entitled to your view, and I'm entitled to think it is absurd to think that way, and thank God you're not involved with the decision making as this is worse than even Shi's.
