Leicester (A) 22/4: Build-Up & Match Thread

It's hard to believe that in the first two weeks of February Leicester scored 4 goals in beating Villa 4 - 2 , away , and followed that up the following week with a 4 - 1 defeat of Spurs at home .
Their season started off really poorly with them bottom of the table for a good few weeks . Then they kind of sorted it out and had a great run pre World Cup .
It all went to pot then directly after the World Cup , up until those two matches above . Since then they have not won a match with a few draws thrown .
Their next 4 ( Wolves , Leeds , Everton and Fulham ) and their final fixture - West Ham , are all more manageable from their perspective , but they have been losing to all kinds of teams since Christmas .
The concern for us is that they might have one more bounce in them .
Their goal difference isn't that bad at all compared all other teams close to them .
They're not conceding huge numbers of goals in individual matches ( like Leeds recently ) , they just can't win .

We need something out of this match , just to keep the run going .

Apparently Raul has been Sulking last few weeks after being left out. Not really talking to anyone and storming home after training.

The realisation that his top level career is now must be a hard one to take. Gone from first name on team sheet to out the squad for no fault of his own.

£5m to pay him off so I guess it depends where he puts business over personal

No fault of Lopetegui's either.
It is what it is.
Sad but a fact of life.

What works in training won’t always work in real action fwiw.
There's always the unknown as well, like what the opposition manager/coach has been planning.

Dropping out the squad all together is definitely on him if he's acting that way, knuckle down and make a fist of what you've got left in the tank. Like his primary competition is doing.

What's killing Raul is his lack of physicality up front . He hates being asked to play up front on his own and isn't holding the ball up very well when he does get it . Costa , on the other hand , despite his limitations this season , loves a good scrap and is growing into the season . His improvement might be a bit late , but it might just be enough to get him an extension into next season .

The decline in Raul is very sad to see , but understandable . His departure this Summer looks almost certain now .

From memory Raul has had one good game this season, Costa has had 2, all 3 were when they weren't isolated. We've spent the season either putting centre forwards past their best up front on their own or the same thing with a guy who isn't a number 9. Hopefully that's ended

Some highlights from Lopetegui's presser: - No new injury concerns - Insists Wolves are not safe yet and urges his team to stay focused - Refuses to discuss about the possibility of a new deal for contract for Costa - only wants to focus on this game this weekend

Villa Dean:

“Ricky is still out. He’s still a couple of weeks away. Jannik played in a 21s game and hurt his calf. He will be out for the season. Ryan’s come through it, so he’s got 65 minutes. Harvey is ready to go on the grass. I think it would be a risk to put him in. We could lose him for the next six games. He will train on Sunday.”

Easy decision over Barnes?

“It wasn’t an easy decision, he’s our top scorer. I have to balance the risk. The risk for him to re-injure was too big, so we’ll prepare him for Tuesday.”

Wonder if Fake Deano will have "watchers" at the other games, ready to relay the scores to him if required, because it's still 1991.

Good news that Barnes won't play. Should give Semedo an easier time.

They beat us 4 - 0 at home . I'd like to think that that is in the minds of players who played that day . Their scorers that day weren't shy about rubbing it in either . I know we were a mess at the time , but it still rankles .
