Muso's Guitar Tart Waffle

Cool, the earplugs are a sign of old age though :)

I've only recently bought a pair of musician earplugs, after being in a band on/off for as long as I can remember! (Zelig have been going since 2007)
Best purchase I've made for ages. No longer get any ringing in my ears after practice or gigs, plus I can hear my vocals within my head and don't have to worry about monitors/speakers feeding back trying to compete with the drummer.

Is anyone in this thread Dan Bull's bank manager?

Guitar Heroes at the BBC on BBC4 now

Wrong thread Penk!

Knopfler is a fuckin legend!

Anyone ever used or know of a Hutchins Chandler bass? - I saw one yesterday and it is visually stunning but I can't find any reviews of it on tone and suchlike.

Its a new one on me, never had a hollow body bass, always associated with early 60's stuff where the bass was rarely heard, in my mind im imagining it sounds like 'Weve gotta get out of this place' by the Animals :

Sorry cant be of any more help :(

Hey chaps,
My band, Zelig, have got a gig on Wednesday at The Slade Rooms in town. It's an acoustic affair, which we absolutely love.

We're supporting a girl called Lucy Rose. She's a solo singer/songwriter on her way up. Beautiful voice. Have a listen:

Also playing (before us) is a chap called Timothy Parkes. We're big fans of his. He're a couple of his vids:

You can take a listen to our recorded stuff using the link in my sig, although it'll have a different feel when we play acousticly.

So if you're at a loose end this Wednesday (3rd Aug) and have £6 burning a hole in your pocket, head to The Slade Rooms from about 8pm. You can save a whole English pound coin if you buy a ticket in advance. Just send me a PM and we'll sort it out.

Cheers folks - shameless plug over!

1969-74 Hofner (looked like a Gibson SG)
1974-76 Epiphone Riviera (Cherry Red)
1976-2003 Various Fender Stratocasters incl. 2 x 'Blackies' American Standards and 1 x Japanese Strat with locking nut & tail humbucker
2003-present Epiphone Casino (the best guitar I've ever played)

1972-present Various electric and acoustic 12 string guitars. Now I have a T.F. Morris (solid top)
1979-present Various basses incl. Fender Precision, Westone Thunder (fretless) and Custom-Made (God knows what it was, but it had a lovely action)

I use Marshall amplification, almost exclusively, although I did own (not at the same time) 2 x VOX AC 30s.

Do you ever sit down and realise how much moneys worth of stuff you've got rid of over the years, try buying a decent second hand AC30 now :eek:hnoes:

Ouch

Not too much actually. Various Marshalls but none of them of particularly great value. My JVM head and cab is my first stack so the combos and things all got shipped on. A nice acoustic went once. More than the odd effects pedal it has to be said.

This had me in stitches!

Incredibly talented bloke, but two things stand out -

1) there is absolutely no soul there, it is just pure technique. David Shankle of Manowar has more blues in his playing

2) that barnet is fucking criminal

As I bassist I appreciate soul and groove more than most, but that video is pretty awesome.

OK, here's a couple for the guitarists , this guy sits 6 foot across from me.

This is fun, and in realtime, the second one is live. PLease check it out. This is possibly one of the greatest guitarists I have ever seen live in my life, and I've seen a few
