New Sponsor

Yeah but having a beer and watching the football is far more deeply ingrained into peoples habits than betting is. Think about everytime we meet up before a match, its always for a pint before and after. if you are watching the WC at home, you will probably have a can or a bottle. Alcohol is pervasive in far more things in life than betting is.

I don't disagree (although I personally don't tend to drink when I'm watching at home) - but that doesn't change my stance on the OTT presence of betting throughout all aspects of the game.

I'm not overly aerated about it - given the prevalence of gambling throughout football now, the presence of it on our shirts is really neither here nor there. And we can hardly expect Fosun to go for only whiter than white sponsors.

I'm not buying the idea that it won't impact on kids because it won't be on the shirts they buy. It'll be on the player's shirts, mum and dad's shirts and on shirts all over the stadium. Unless they've come up with some whizzy technology that means a child's eyes will see Mr Tumble instead of W88, I'm not sure they're really being protected from the evils of gambling.

If you want to look into morals and ethics, I'd start looking at our owners and how much their income / fortune has been acquired via working with the Chinese Communist Party (I don't know the answer, but I'm sure it's not zero). Plenty of lives and political prisoners would thank you for your support.

Bring back Morgan and Moxey!

That's an episode of Black Mirror just waiting to be made....

Now, you can go too far.

Indeed. I lived in China for 13 years and, whilst I couldn't be more excited about Wolves' future, I do hope there's room for at least a little perspective/ skepticism about Fosun and the government that made them possible. A bit of legal internet gambling pales in comparison to the operating procedures of the Beijing gov.

Edit: modern football (like many things) is a filthy, dirty business when held close to a microscope.

I hope the kids one comes with the logo. They want to wear the same kit as the players not one that looks similar

Nah, I'd rather not sell the kids merchandise promoting gambling, thanks all the same.

We can't if we wanted to. Betting and Alcohol sponsors are banned from shirts sold to Under 18's.

The University of Wolverhampton will be on the academy strip, a dedicated sponsor for the kid's kit will be announced at a later date.

You sure? The story on the Wolves site states the Academy is sponsored by the Uni and the club would announce a seperate shirt sponsor for the kids replica kits before the launch of the new kits

With Academy shirts already sponsored by University of Wolverhampton, the club will announce a dedicated junior kit sponsor before the home and away shirt are revealed.

Record deal, great logo and changed the colours to match us. Love it.

Just hope it doesn't go on sale when I'm on holiday as it may sell out quick

Thing with betting is the fixed odds terminals and it's move online rather than the traditional high street bookies IMO.

Online casinos can be particularly vicious because if you're struggling or trying to stop and they're bombarding you with emails then it makes it so much harder. Likewise, you couldn't watch a game on Sky where there are normal adverts and then right before kick off/second half the adverts with in game odds. Talksport commentators read out odds periodically I believe? I've only had a Sky sub 12 months and didn't really know how saturated it was. When it the fun stops, stop,. Aye right.

I'm not as pissed off as when Money Shop came in by a stretch but I'd say it's easier to get into gambling debts now rather than ten years ago.

It won't sell out. We will have ordered at least 200k this time to cover the Chinese market too.

As a reformed gambling addict I am a bit pissed at ANOTHER betting company, but it is a totally different level to usury. I can wear a shirt with this logo. My gambling was a choice (at least at the start). Money shop style services are just preying on the vulnerable.

Hopefully Patt. Think this one is going to be very popular, it looks spot on

I'm happy with this sponsor. I guess the on site bookies will be changing as well.

Don’t really get the hate of bookie sponsors. If you’re going to gamble, you’re going to gamble. You MAY choose to use W88 now instead, doubt it though. You’ll use whatever gives out the best odds.

And a 12 yr old isn’t suddenly going to turn to gambling because the sponsor is on our shirt.

I honestly dont get the fuss around the sponsor tbh. Nobody seemed to mind when it was Tsingtao beer being mentioned. How many homes/lives has alcohol taken?

But when it's a betting company everyone suddenly takes the moral high ground. I dont understand. I've worked in that industry, it's a lot more heavily regulated than the drinks industry and its a lot harder to ruin your life through betting than it is through alcohol.

Agree with everything said here. Some of the stuff i've read everywhere today regarding the sponsor is very strange. They're paying us a lot of money, they have agreed to change the colour of the logo and it looks like it's going to look much better than most sponsors on football shirts. Pretty sure a lot of our fans just like to find something to moan about.

How much do we think this deal is worth? Someone is trying to tell me Villa's deal with 32 Red is worth £40m
