New Sponsor

Tony Xia?

I doubt it's a tenth of that.

The fact that some people have the point of view that gambling and betting firms arent that big a deal, highlights how overly ingrained they are in sport. You should be able to watch football without at least 'just stick a tenner on the next scorer' adverts run in vast ratios. I have no crusade with at the ground advertising and betting in the stadium.

I had no idea who W88 are, I now know but if I saw their logo on a Wolves shirt it wouldn't make me think "Ooo, I'd best put £20 on a football result".
I did, however, know who The Money Shop were and as a result i refused to buy what is probably the best shirt Wolves have had this century

Double standards on here methinks. People moaning about our sponsors, yet we have a thread on this forum where people are paying £10 to bet on the World Cup.

I do not gamble anyway, (apart from a few pounds on the grand national), but I really cannot see why Wolves fans are so annoyed about our shirt sponsor.

You seem to be thinking everyone on here is against the sponsor. I would say a very very small % of users have stated they are against them. So far from double standards sir.

I think it's ok. Good of them to change the colour to suit us.
It's all a rocky road once we prostituted ourselves to having anything on our shirts apart from 3 leaping Wolves we were always open to this sort of thing.
The best looking sponsor for me was Chaucer Consulting. That mythical horse's head logo (or whatever it was) looked deadly.
Apart from that it's all over my rare jacket from the Physio on the bench. (nod to Boozad)

Could be worse sponsors out there,ok it's a betting website, but isn't obvious it's a betting site, loads of people won't have heard of it,and will have to google it,by that time the urge to put £20 on Costa to score next will have gone

They will Google it and then find they can't actually get on their website. Gambling issue solved unless they then decide to move to China so they can gamble with W88....then there is a problem

Damn it man, I told you my plans in confidence.

They are launching in the UK, or at least that's what I infer from their comments on the Wolves site

You would have thought a launch in time for the sponsorship announcement would have been a good idea.

Surprise surprise, Charles Ross has had a bitch about the new sponsor. I find it incredible that, with things going so well at Wolves, people are still finding something to moan about.

Last year's main sponsor of PL clubs by business:
Gambling X10
Banking / Insurance X4
Airlines X2
Car
Tyres
Media
Construction

So half were gambling, outside the Top 6 it was 10/14. For a club our size it's clear that this is the route that will achieve the greatest investment. So realistically those who are against it are also suggesting we accept less.

I’ve no issue with gambling firms on football shirts, or even in the ground, but I do take umbrage at Ray fucking Winston appearing multiple times between every televised game. There’s a big difference between a logo on someone’s shirt and someone telling us how great betting is over and over again. I’d rather ban the adverts than have the sponsorship removed. Love the new kit and think the sponsor suits it perfectly.

It's also interesting that other than Bet365, which is an inter company Coates thing all of the rest are foreign based with little UK exposure. Bournemouth for instance are M88 who like W88 you have to Google to find out what they are.

I enjoyed this tweet -

Things I didn’t do cos of who #wolves had as shirt sponsor

Went to kwikfit & insisted on Goodyear tyres❌

Got addicted to Doritos❌

Decided I’d get a loan from Moneyshop❌

Opened a SportingBet account❌

In addition I still don’t know what Chaucer or Silverbug do
