51 points got us relegated from this league in 2012/13. Then Ebanks Blake top scored with 14. Costa or Edwards will do well to get close to that. Considering what a mess we were in then I am surprised there is more patience among supporters at the moment. Lambert and Fosun are getting a generous honeymoon. I have said this on another thread so apo!ogies for the repetition but the nucleus of this squad was shown to be not good enough last season and yet has , in the main, been given more than enough chance to shoiw to the required standard. All to often as a collective they have failed.

Think that Fosun are getting a generous honeymoon as this season has at least had more entertainment than last one (at least we are not suffering continuous 0 - 0 home draws with absolutely no activity occurring on the pitch).

Worry for me is that we are two thirds of the way through the season & there is still no real sense of how we are trying to play or a solid base which we are starting to improve from. Lambert has 15 games (+ any FA Cup games we still have left) to instill that & ready us for a promotion push next year as that will be the minimum requirement.

I agree my friend and I want to be optimistic. My fear is that the majority of the first team squad are individually not good enough for a promotion push and collectively lack cohesion on too many occasions.

For me the Zenga experiment was flawed, but I will forgive the owners that as they seemed to have a plan in place which was derailed at the last moment (though whether their first choice would have been any better is impossible to say)

Now we have a 'competent' Manager for this level, but haven't seen sufficient real improvement yet to be certain that it was the right appointment - flashes of real movement forward combined with a number of backward steps.

As said by others the current crop have a decreasing number of games left to convince him (& us) that they are worth keeping on for next season (& this presupposes that we retain our Championship status - which I think we will, even though we are running it closer than any of us would want to)

I have been saying, along with others, for some months now that we must have quality players in certain key positions, CB, Goalie and Striker.

Who did we bring in to the club in January? Weimann on loan and Marshall from a club below us.

I have continually seen comments that we have enough quality in our squad to avoid relegation, and I have said that I hoped this was right but felt that the approach by the Club and its' management was a tremendous gamble.

I have seen nothing recently to change my mind, and some of the stats. displayed on the site, show that there has been no significant improvement in results under Lambert. Some say the games are better to watch, but the results and our league position are not good to watch.

Lambert needs to use the whole of his squad available to him to choose his team each week and not close his mind to certain players.
Why is he not selecting Saiss? What's happened to Silvio? Why is he not playing Williamson, Iorfa, Hause, CBJ? Why has he rejected Prince and Tex and sent them out of the club?

I'm afraid we are struggling again and IF we survive, then we need to buy wisely and bring in quality players to replace the poor quality we have at the moment.

Saiss - don't know, he should be in the team
Silvio - broke his foot a couple of months ago. Not sure we'll see him again
Williamson - only just regained fitness, was on the bench on Tuesday
Iorfa - not in any kind of form, Coady has done ok at RB by and large, no point overloading the bench with defenders
Hause - don't think there's a huge amount to choose between him and the rest. Looks good sometimes, awful other times
CBJ - not our player and didn't do that well in the games he got early in the season, I'd still play him over Doherty but doesn't look like it's an option
Prince - wanted to go back to France it seems
Tex - can't even get on the bench for Forest. Not going to happen for him in this league. We own better already

Nice one lads, worst return by our strikers in over 30 years. 20 league goals from non-Afobe strikers in two whole seasons.

Edit: Batth outscored all of them with 4.

So did Mr Gloves

Seems the right thread to bump. Our record over the last 12 league games reads

Played 12
Won - 10
Drawn - 1
Lost - 1
Scored - 27
Against - 6
Points - 31

In those 12 games we have kept 8 clean sheets. Even with the below-par performances in the last 3 games, that record is outstanding.
