If you look at the type of goals/assists he scores it's exactly the type of player we should be looking for. A player who arrives late in the box, scores goals and turns the Jota/Raúl partnership into a trio.

I've no doubt that we've looked at Sanson but think there's probably a few players we're interested in ahead of him.

Good player but absolutely not what we need. If and when we buy another CM then they have to offer something different to what we've already got. Goals, pace, the ability to beat a man, whatever. Gomes has none of them. He has one goal in the last two seasons, guess who that was against...

Blues apparently interested in Bright (I assume on loan).

Now this is where a loan would actually make sense. We need him to perform at Championship level so we can sell him. If his entire CV is half a good season in a mid-table L1 team then he isn't going to realise much value. If he does well for a Championship club (I'd rather it not be them, but whatever) then we can get a reasonable fee.

Always remember this glorious event when thinking about transfer windows and what you can do.

Window closed, not out of contract, but deal all done and announced before Christmas. We just couldn't play him until 1st January.
