They don't have to bat at 2 an over for 5 sessions though. Equally they don't have to bat as if it's a rain affected T20 either. The key, I would have thought is about game/time at the crease management. The Aussies used to be brilliant at positive batting and putting pressure on the bowling side, but being positive didn't mean being rash.Equally were not likely to survive trying to bat this out at 2 an over for the next 5 sessions because our players aren’t that way inclined and the Indian bowlers are good.
It’s not just about trying to get them as quickly as possible. It’s about asserting pressure back onto the bowlers so that they’re out of their rhythm, wondering where to bowl and making it easier to score runs.
Appreciate we might get out cheaply sometimes but how many times have we broken the record 4th innings run chase in the last 3 years? Much more than we ever have done before.
