The F1 Thread

This a great between Norris and Piastri.

Everyone else looking after their tyres but these 2 in a proper racing fight

Big win for Lando off the back of his disaster at Canada. Done with some immense pressure at times from Oscar.

Red Bull may be looking at another firing as yet another 2nd driver is having a mare. At some point they may admit having a team and car set up for 1 driver is not the way forward.

Piastri’s moment was when he overtook into turn 3 and then lost it with the DRS down the third straight.. Should have been a bit smarter and held back to get that DRS like many have done before. Then held back from an overtake in turn 1 later I guess to they try and get it done later in 3 or 4 but somehow ended up nowhere near. Must have had a bad exit out of 1.

Considering some wrote off Lando a couple of weeks ago, that was a very good weekend for him. Reasserted his dominance and told his teammate he was back in the game. Still a bit of a procession after the early excitement.

Probably when Max signs for Mercedes in 2026

On Max...apart from his fucking idiot message over the radio he has taken being smashed out of the race in an un-Max like manner.

Calm and understanding.

Worst GP of the season so far. Absolutely tedious. I had it on in the background and barely looked up at it after the first pit stops.

Max to Merc talk really getting loud now.

He has a release clause in his current deal. A lot saying it has now been triggered as he is outside the top 2 in the Championship after a certain amount of races.

George Russell will be delighted with that news...

He will just get comfy in the Red Bull next year

They might actually just go back to being a team rather than a one man show.
Think it's been a bit of a vicious circle with them - read something before that reckoned the way they design their car is theoretically the way that gives the maximum performance but it comes with a very narrow window for getting peak performance and obviously that's difficult for drivers to hit consistently. With Max capable of handling that madness they pushed further and further down that road but to the detriment of whoever their other driver was. I guess without him there they'll have to water down that mentality and make their car a bit more user friendly otherwise they'll end up with two drivers struggling. Be interesting to see if Merc start to push towards a stupidly unstable car if they end up with Max angling for the sort of thing he was used to at RB.

Decent race and battle for the podiums, Verstappen 2nd to 10th

Horner has been sacked by Red Bull.

Surprised by the timing of this. Maybe Max has issued an ultimatum?

Oh no what a terrible, terrible shame.

Probably means Max stays put. Toto will be laughing behind his hand somewhere.
