Far right now angry at the police for saying it’s a white man, and they’ve been told to say that by the government.
They’re just angry because they want to go out for a fight with the police and smash shit up like last year.

Completely oblivious to the fact that it needs to be stated that it's a white man in order to prevent the same far right people going out on a spree of race hate violence.

It was. Even yesterday, after they announced he was a middle-aged white man, there was still so much conspiracy and misinformation out there. Maybe it'll become a rod for their own back next time around but I think they absolutely did the right thing last night.

This bit is hard to swallow. Surely there were some kind of law enforcement ushering the ambulance through? It’s not like tailgating makes your vehicle invisible.

I dunno, it’s an odd detail IMO.

I sort of get the tailgating element but he made a conscious decision once in the crowd the target civilians/pedestrians etc. It might have only been a moment and might have been drug induced, but he did it and no bullshit is needed now. Hold your hands up and be thankful that you're not facing multiple murder charge

Police as most often the time are in a no win situation regardless what they decide to do you always get those unhappy, Harry Hindsight’s or overthinking.
Think they made the right call here stamped out any chance of civil unrest for those looking for any excuse to cause havoc.

Next time something happens, if the police don't announce the ethnicity straight away there will be unrest. And if they do announce the ethnicity and they aren't white there will be unrest.

There is no right answer because whether there is unrest or not will depend largely on the ethnicity of the offender and the ratio of racists in the area.

I'm not sure what the argument is tbh. If they didn't announce it, there would likely have been riots. They prevented one. None of that will prevent a riot next time an act such as this is commited by somebody who isn't a white British man

Someone texted in to James O'Brien's LBC show to say "How do we know he wasn't a white Muslim?" I just don't what to even think about society and more.

There's been so many posts like that, if I'd have been arsed I could've done 200+ yesterday, from people either outright lying or spreading nonsense conspiracies about. Even now, many are calling it a cover up
