The Football News Thread 2024/25

Preston for me. Stoke and Derby are 18 and 20/1. Luton's form is good and Albion are on the beach so. Bristol City need to win and I can see Hull picking up a point if Bristol score early
Preston or Hull most likely but would risk death by laughing if by some miracle it’s Stoke.

My wife was a baggies supporter, where does that leave me?
To help your comments we were divorced a long long time ago

And you still married her??

Someone for everyone I guess…
In the early days of our relationship (pre-Fosun), I remember walking around Inverness with her and we were playing Derby and they hammered us 5-0, it was humiliating but we have left them a long way behind since then so I have to try not to sound too patronising these days when I offer support

Rashford to miss the rest of the season, probably seen the last of him in claret & blue

He makes some poor decisions. Misses cup semi with what is a multi week injury, team gets hammered yet still goes to the Eubank fight. He does bring some of the criticism on himself

Preston's form is dreadful in the lead up to this weekend . It's not easy to turn that form around . They're playing away at Bristol City too , who simply have to win to hang onto that play off spot .
At the same time Preston are still ahead of Luton due to Luton's really poor goal difference , so a defeat for both could send Luton down if Hull were to win .
Derby are not out of the woods either . They're playing Stoke who are not safe either .
Hull should beat Portsmouth I think . Portsmouth are safe , not a bad season for them overall considering how new they are to the Division , they might well be on the beach come Saturday .
Luton's form is very good right now , but a win on Saturday will mean 4 wins on the bounce - that's not easy to do . It's in their hands though to stay up , a draw might be enough .

In Preston's case, Relegation would be absolute disaster. They are in a little bit of a financial mess & it will lead to a lot of job losses.

PNE like Blackburn are both strange clubs, PNE some very old history but haven’t kicked a ball in the top flight since 1961.
Blackburn were a ghost club from 1966-1992 and have been since 2012.
Both struggle to gates above 14k unless a biggish club fills out their away end.

Another VAR decision overturned. Joke shop system

Dermot on Ref Watch stood by it because of the height even though there no force and it’s a slip. Whereas a genuine two footed lunge by Adams he says is fine because it’s low. I don’t think either of them are reds but one which is intentional, two footed and forceful is more dangerous than a slip with no force but his studs are 2 inches higher

I live in the Lancashire area & can tell you that locally their is a lot of worry for both clubs. Obviously I've mentioned Preston but in Blackburn's regard. The fans simply aren't going due to the Venky's Ownership. They aren't investing like they used to (something to do with indian investment) & like ourselves are a selling club. Like you've said gates are down unless the Darwen end (7500-ish) is packed out but that's rare these days.

Selfishly I want to see either of the clubs go up / down. So I can see the raising of the coffin tradition.

Another rule that's pointless when something comes along that means it could be implemented. If the worry is that Forest and Olympiacos could gerrymander a result if they were drawn against each other then this won't change that one jot.

Surely keeping them apart shouldn’t be to hard either, UEFA have kept teams apart for political tensions before.
Likelihood of them both going past the QF is slim also.

Surely he's not going to just step away why he's needed to, he's installed a co owner on the board whose going to be his mouthpiece? Fucking stupid rule.
