The Football News Thread 2024/25

Just attention seeking behaviour, great logic you’ve just won the league but yep burn a shirt because it’s got name of player who’s decided to move on after years of service.

Villa v Tottenham being moved from Sunday 18th to Friday 16th as Spurs might be in the Europa League final.
10 days notice is a disgrace to fans who would have already paid for travel etc. it’s a can of worms being opened too as a gap between Sunday and Wednesday isn’t normally considered a reason to move a game.

Moved to the Friday as Man Utd play that day. Both are likely to be in the final so done so both teams have the same preparation time.

Spurs had asked Villa but they said no, PL stepped in and changed it anyway.

Shit on the fans but can see the reasoning behind it.
Been occasions where the PL have ignored teams asking for an extra day or so before a Euro final, whilst La Liga and others will move games to help the team from their league in the final.

Not just burning the name on the back but your burning your club colours. That cunt needs a slap.

Disclaimer :- Don't give multiple slaps just one off his bald headed fucking bonce.

I think even Gandhi would give this the thumbs up

listened in last week to an ICAEW webinar on football finance. had kieran maguire and a few others running through a bit of history and a few examples of creative accounting by a few clubs (non current cases other than a nod to the charges v Man City) that were allowed through, really to demonstrate the lack of proper enforcement in the past.

reference made to future changes - squad cost revenues (squad cost having a ceiling - 85% of revenues); and top to bottom anchoring (TBA) aimed to limit the amount clubs can spend to a multiple of the TV revenues that the bottom club will receive.

also had a section on the incoming Football Governance bill which will introduce an Independent Football Regulator, currently getting staffed up.

one of the first comments was that the 20 EPL clubs have £3.1bn in unpaid transfer fees - presumably being settled out of future revenues/sales. I presumed that was current rather than a tot up of their last sets of accounts but I could be wrong,

Wouldn't that just be total remaining amortisation? I can't imagine actual payment terms are as easily found

Loads of transfers will have outstanding bills (Liverpool didn't long finish paying for Jota) but they're almost always underpinned by borrowing against TV money, it's where parasites like Macquarie come in.

definitely referring to amounts still due as they were talking about buying on credit. I was surprised at the total but they didn't go into where the number was calculated from.

Beckham and Red Nev leading the consortium as new owners of Salford FC. Giggs, Butt, Scholes and rubbish Nev all out as shareholders.

Another reason to turn the game on a minute from kickoff and then mute it at halftime.

Any interview before the final whistle is a complete waste of time in any circumstances.
