The January 2025 Transfer Thread

I don’t think it would happen either. I’ve beefed up my original post.

He wanted to stay and fight for a place in the Arsenal team IIRC.

If it's been made clear he is surplus to their requirements I'm sure he'd be willing to do a loan for 6 months so he can play. Given that he's a ball-playing defender and DM I'm sure he could play the hybrid LCB role that Vitor wants.
It was when he was a fringe player at City wasn't it? If he didn't want to make that step down to Wolves as they were at the time then I can't see him wanting to drop to a much lower Wolves now. He'd potentially still be Arsenal's first choice left if it hadn't been for injuries - perhaps he'll still get that place back now if he can stay fit.

I don't see him doing any sort of job as a centre half either, hybrid role or not. His actual defending has often been suspect for both City and Arsenal so asking to do more of it and relying on him aerially quite a bit as a fairly small player doesn't seem like a great recipe to me.

He didn't want to come to Wolves as a Europa League club did he? Or was it before that?
Would think his rise in importance since moving to Arsenal would make him even less likely to want a step down.

It was August 2018, our first season after promotion rather than when we'd already qualified for Europe.

Chilwell is pretty well on the outs at Chelsea isn’t he? His wages are almost certainly absurd, though.

I'm sure Arsenal would be willing to subsidise a percentage of his wages for Zinchenko, if it means he's put in the Prem shop window. Assuming they're looking to move him on it could easily generate more interest in him for the summer.

Would it? I don't think anyone has forgotten that he's a capable PL player on his day.

He just got injured in September and was out for 2-3 months? Not like he's had years of recurring absences.

He doesn't get a gig now because Arsenal have multiple better options at LB and he's never really played in midfield for them. If we were after an Arsenal LB with a fitness-related point to prove then I'd much rather sign Kieran Tierney.

Recency bias is a thing.

Out of sight, out of mind. If he has a few good games he'll be in demand again.

I doubt Arsenal would struggle to sell him or anything but if it means they get more money for him then they could be up for it.

I'm sure our top negotiator Matt Hobbs could swing their thinking in that direction... 😂

Can only think you watch a lot of Ukraine's national games as he literally never plays there for Arsenal and didn't for Man City either.

I thought at first glance his name was Theatre and thought it was appropriate we are after him as the club is such a pantomime...
