The R.I.P. Thread

BBC have no choice in this. They are simply following the rules set out.

I'm no Royal fan, they don't make me happy or sad and I have no real opinion on the good/bad they bring. However I get the coverage and know I have Netflix, Prime, Sports, Books etc to use. Not that I watch TV when it happens anyway.

When the Queen decides its time to move on, this coverage will feel tame. Plus the moment it's announced we actually start national mourning for a few days and part of that is businesses have to close at that point. No choice, shut down and go home.
All business?!

AFAIK, the days of the funeral and coronation are bank holidays, I don't think it's any more than that.

"On the day itself, it’s likely that most UK workers will be sent home early"

Seems it is now a business choice, so a Royalist owner and off home you go.

12 days of mourning with the funeral a bank holiday.

Phillip's funeral is the same time as our kick off next week, wouldn't surprise me if our game is moved as a result.

Not sure why people think Sky Sports would have anything to do with it.

Sky have their own news channel to cover it.

So do the BBC, but for some reason they couldn’t show the women’s football on BBC4 last night .

That's because the BBC are publically funded and on terrestrial TV.

If it happens it's not about what channel it's on, it's about other public events clashing with it
