The Star Wars Thread

what are the new films that disney is planning? Only saw a brief newspaper headline.

Not been confirmed yet - Rhian Johnson (who directed The Last Jedi) was rumoured to be working on a new trilogy, as were the guys who brought Game of Thrones to TV (David Benioff and D.B. Weiss). Both were supposed to be completely separate to the Skywalker saga.

I reckon it's the latter.

Hell yes. Going to have to go to a midnight showing. More excited about this than I am about Christmas. It's still October, so the latter isn't acceptable just yet.

Nah, the new Star Wars trilogy has been a bit disappointing overall so far. Christmas is better :)

(I'll still go and watch the film though, obviously).

clicked play, skipped right to the end to find out the release date. didn't watch the actual trailer.

Aaah it's that time to drag this out again :)

A few places are showing episodes VII, VIII and IX back to back.

Going to have to do that.

Be interesting to see how it all ties up but I'm looking forward to The Mandolorian more.

Me too, it looks really good! Plus, Gina Carano is in it and she's lovely.

After The Last Jedi, I just don't know if I can emotionally handle another Star Wars movie. That whole ordeal just sapped so much of my enthusiasm for the franchise.

The Last Jedi was excellent. Never got the hate.

I don't disagree. It was the vitriol of the discussions surrounding it that did the damage.

TLJ was excellent, IMO. I'm worried that TRS will simply retcon it.

Ah gotcha - yes, I did rather tire of some of the arguments around TLJ and TRS might be 'played safe' for wont of a better phrase.

My prediction is that Abrams will manage to find a middle ground between the two - fine by me. Although I would like to see future Star Wars projects take more of a risk - The Mandalorian does indeed look excellent, and I hope the Game of Thrones twins do something different with their project.

That looks decent. I need to rewatch the others as I can't remember anything about The Last Jedi, think I slept through most of it, and Solo. Rogue One is still the best of the new films.

This x1000.

I think people just liked to hate on it, I mean they were getting dissapointed over the plot line to a story thats set in the distant past in space with aliens and people with magic powers who fight with laser swords. I mean how hung up over the story can you get, its meant to be fun (and also for kids)

I've tried to watch Solo 3 times and got bored every time. Rogue One was excellent and as you say the best of the new films.

I liked TLJ but it was an uneven story. I'd never heard of the Mandelorian before I read this thread but anything with the mighty Carl Weathers in will be watchable.

Have to find a decent stream for it.

Finally got round to seeing Rise of Skywalker, I really enjoyed it! A far better film than the trash of TLJ (I.e. ROS isn't the world's slowest chase movie with a side plot of riding around a casino on a space horse looking for someone who isn't needed).

Ticked most of the boxes for me, though a few patchy moments and the odd bit of "lore" ignored

I’m at the cinema waiting for it now! Watched force awakens and last Jedi in the past two days. Stupidly excited.

Enjoy Tredman!

And I agree Paddy, it was a fitting end.

I thought it was decent but nothing more.

Bit too many cliched scenes and fan-wanking for me. But then I've never been a big Star Wars fan.
