Fabio Silva Departs Wolves for Borussia Dortmund – A Message from Jeff Shi
Well, here we are. Another chapter closes, and a new one begins. Fabio Silva, our bright Portuguese star, is heading to Borussia Dortmund. It’s a move that stirs a mix of pride and nostalgia in all of us at Wolves. I wanted to take a moment to reflect—not just as the chairman, but as someone who’s watched Fabio grow from a promising teenager into a player ready to take on Europe’s elite.
When we signed Fabio in 2020, it was a bold move. The youngest player to ever start for Porto, a record fee, and a mountain of expectations. But Fabio never flinched. He brought flair, humility, and a work ethic that made him a fan favourite—even when the goals didn’t always flow. He danced through defences like George Harrison’s fingers across a fretboard. Yes, I’m a Beatles fan. And yes, Fabio’s development reminded me of their early albums—raw, full of potential, and destined for greatness.
His loan spells at Anderlecht and PSV weren’t just detours—they were part of the journey. He matured, sharpened his instincts, and returned to Wolves with a hunger that made us believe again. But football, like life, is about timing. And now, the timing is right for Fabio to test himself in the Bundesliga, under the yellow wall of Dortmund.
To the fans: don’t be sad, mate. This isn’t goodbye—it’s see you later. Fabio carries the spirit of Wolves with him. He’ll be nutmegging defenders in Germany while humming “Here Comes the Sun,” and we’ll be cheering him on from Molineux, Fortnite skins and all.
To Fabio: best of luck, lad. You’ve got the talent, the temperament, and the tunes (I still remember you singing “Let It Be” at the Christmas party). Go light up Dortmund. And if you ever fancy a return, the door’s always open.
Up the Wolve.
