The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

And it's Wolverhampton
Wolverhampton Wanderers FC
We're by far the finest Excel team
The world has ever seen

On its own merits I don't care that much about him going. He isn't that good. We needed a striker three months ago though and we don't have one, so the odds of us getting two in a week are longer than Stefan Maierhofer's neck.
Finished in the top 10 for goals last season but yeah agree he's not that good.

If/when we sell Fabio and JSL we will have brought in some serious cash this summer - especially when you consider wages too!

Best summer ever for Finance FC fans 🤑

Could be 75m from JSL + Fabio alone

The only 3* striker has gone to Villa. We'll have to dip into the 2* strikers

He’s never worth that, very much needs a lot to happen around him to become useful absolutely not a game changing player.

Finishing is very variable (could easily pluck out 8+ terrible misses and he's only been here a year)
Not a target man
Doesn't really run the channels

He's decent, what we paid is about right, I don't think he's a better player now than when we signed him, I don't think he'll get 10 goals this season in this team.

He's not worth that but he's really good for where we are right now. In isolation selling him for that amount is good business but nothing at all matters beyond the fact that if we sell him we'll have 0 strikers.
The Sasa disrespect here...

I wouldn't even know where to start to get a good to go replacement.
Any obvious names we will be priced out on wages.

The 2*'s are both still available...

And that we increase the chances of relegation hugely. And that is worth far more than 60million.

We sell JSL now there's zero chance we replace him in a week.

We already don't have any players either side of him so I can't see anyway we stay up if we sell our centre forward too.

I'm going with "we had John Paskin and Paul McLoughlin in 1990, you should cheer up, we've had it worse".
That reminds me horribly of turning up at Plymouth and hearing both Bully and Mutch were out injured and these two coming in.. Think we lost 2-0.. The good old days.

Any normal club would have back ups ready for every possible position for this very eventuality. There's very little time left in this window though, it would be a terrible time for any club to sell a first team player in a position where they're already looking to recruit.

We've already had a lot of churn in this window as well, it's been incredibly busy with lots of outgoings and incomings. Even if we did sell JSL and then got 2 strikers in before the deadline, Vítor then has to do a hell of a lot of work to get the team to gel together.

And its all well and good saying yay 65mill.

But we'll have to pay a premium for the replacement as its late in the window and they'll know we have the cash burning a hole.

We will end up with someone significantly worse. For probably 80% cost of what we sell him for.
