Every time there's been discussion of having half decent striker back up though, going back to Raul, we always get the argument from a chunk of people on here that anyone good enough won't sit on the bench or share the limelight

Trying to add a slight positive spin - new signing would be no.1. Opens up to more players. Not got long to do it though etc etc.

I meant 'back up' as in a list of players to move for in the eventuality that we sell any particular player.

That's fair then and if true there's no need to panic. A previous report mentioned that Jørgen wouldn't push for a move.

He'll obviously have his agent in his ear but he seems like quite a grounded guy and I doubt we've gone with this 'not for sale' stance without actually explaining that to him first.

To be fair, you can tell that it's too late in the window to be making sensible attacking player purchases by the fact that Newcastle are apparently willing to pay twice Strand Larsen's actual value out of sheer desperation.
