The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

I thought Woltegarde was an outside CAM. I did only check 1 game though :D

Edit: spelling on that is lovely. Tchatchoua has got me all in a pickle

Actually very sensible signing tbf. For where we find ourselves now anyway. Hopefully another year of defeats in the Premier League will be more attractive than earning enough money to keep his family secure for generations. No public beheading in Wolverhampton though at least.

If true it says to me that the money's dried up to get the likes of Hackney so we've gone for someone we could have signed a couple of months ago.

Doesn't suggest much of a plan does it? Loaning out Traore almost immediately only to bring in Brownhill with a day to go?

Would be a promoted club type signing as are most the ones we’ve made.
Our SM fans some of them live in a dream world.
“The international break isn’t a perfect time for the squad to gel” HALF OF THEM WONT FUCKING BE THERE!
“ we needed a good clear out” DOESNT INVOLVE SELLING YOUR BEST PLAYERS!

Pre season was a shambles just 4 matches in front of paying fans isn’t getting you match fit.
The transfer window has been akin to the summer of 2003 where we padded things out with quantities of crap.
We’ve somehow turned 3 of the players who we were pining a lot on into looking as bad as what’s around them ie Agbadou, Andre and J Gomes.
The absolute minimum we should’ve done was get ourselves organised and harder to beat.
Again if we had envisaged a worst possible start this would be it, couldn’t have gone any worse.

Jonathan Dyke "we don't have time to bed players in". Erm, barring a time machine, what do you suggest we do then? Vitor is changing the system, he is moving to a 3 4 1 2. As he doesn't have two forwards at present, he can't implement it in games (Sasa only cleared for 20 min spells by medical at present). He is also moving to a three at back but with Agbadou at the right, and new lad centre as he has passing ability to start play, again, how can he implement that yet??

Above comment picked up from Facebook, this is a response to me stating how fucked we look.

Changing the system 4 games into the season, having played all pre season with a different system.

Also we bought players for the previous system, not this new one.

And we needed 2 strikers when we played with 1 striker, so signing 1 striker when we are playing with 2 leaves us light.

I think Arias has looked best when he was playing in behind the strikers, more central like “10” role for about 20 minutes v West Ham. He doesn’t look comfortable playing out on the touchline and he’s spending huge chunks of the match being anonymous and having no impact on the match. I think that’s why Vitor is trying to change the system. It seems a tad basic - get a second big man on the field up top and we’ll score more goals - but we have such a lack/dirge of quality in midfield that he’s got no choice but to try something.

Problem is how do you fit Lopez and Arias into the side. Also have Munetsi and JRB sat around doing nothing.
Typical of how the whole thing is way over subscribed in one position and criminally undersubscribed in others.

We started the summer with Matt Hobbs "transfer targets" and apart from Brownhill, that seems to have been binned. We then had this hybrid Teti/Mendes transfer leadership but this hasn't led to us signing a bunch of first choice targets.

If it was Vitor's intention to change the system, there is really no excuse to be in this position so late having to scramble around for what's left in the market.

Meanwhile, we are setting ourselves up for another relegation battle and likely another spending spree in January.
