The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

Binning Traore looks a remarkably stupid decision.
We have form!

We've done stuff like this several times and then left ourselves short, Adama, Cutrone, Sasa, Fabio off the top of my head have all gone and left us short, it's as if they still think that freak period when Nuno's squad never got injured is still a thing

Complete lack of a midfielder while ending up with 6 (six) centre backs and 6 wing backs is incredible. And the only way of remedying that jaw dropping imbalance is by trying to loan out of the dozen.

No shade on Tolu as I have no idea who he is really but we desperately needed someone to cover LW & ST. Uche seemed perfect for that role but once that deal fell through to pivot to someone who seems like a traditional target man (just guessing here as I've never seen him play) seems strange.

To not sign a CM is shite and will definitely cost us points. Vítor has been asking for one since last season and the club have failed him.

Everywhere else it remains to be seen. I like a lot of our new signings, I'm happy that Strand Larsen stayed, and Mosquera comes back into the squad as well (less enthused about Hoever and H.Bueno coming back in).

Sam Johnstone still being here is baffling and there I hope a few kids get loan deals over the next few hours.

I don't think there's any doubt that we're ending this window with a weaker squad than we finished last season with.
I think it's also fairly clear that it will be harder to stay up this year due to the 3 promoted teams not being a complete farce as they were last year.

Therefore, it's hard to conclude anything other than we are bang in trouble.
Over to VP and his coaching team now to try and fashion a system that will enable this group of players to win some points

It will be one of Arias and Lopez behind the two strikers and a lot of long balls up to them like there were against Everton.

We're going to have to win ugly if we win at all.

Tommy Doyle went on 3rd July.
Boubacar went on 24th July.

So that’s essentially 40 odd days we’ve known we need another midfielder - longer if we give them the benefit of the doubt of pre-planning. Scampering around for Josh Brownhill in the last 24-48 hours doesn’t sound like a great deal of pre-planning to me. Especially when the manager is rumoured to not want him anyway 😂 (let’s not even get into the reasons why Brownhill is being put forward to the manager as an option when the managers OWN guy is the one in charge of recruiting).

What an abject failure.

It’s a “want to come 17th” window with another unbalanced squad.
Very few if any of that squad that actually like infact it bores me.
